Women in Egypt wore long form-fitting "dresses" covering from neck to below the knees, and typically having long sleeves as well. The physiologic ideal depicted in Egyptian art is that men and women have a similar androgenous lankiness and women are even shown with wide shoulders. It is considered to be one of the more interesting enigma's of Egyptian art and why later Greek art that had more realistic depiction of masculine and feminine forms was so ground breaking and important.
