  1. Yeah, this is talked about in another post as well. I think it makes the most sense that Alex WAS supposed to be killed, and the island eventually course corrected itself by letting Keamy kill her. Except…WHY Alex? Why Rosseau’s baby? That couldn’t have been the first ‘foreign’ child on the island. Unless there were never supposed to be children on the island, so that’s why they never survive when conceived. But what about the two kids from the plane crash? I want to know what has happened to them.

The two kids from the plane crash? They’re Others. We’ve seen them a few times now.

  3. WHAT? I did not know that. Ummmm…good times. So why did they take Alex in the first place? Why do they take babies? If those kids are others, why are they allowed to be on the island?

  4. And wait…how can that be? I know we saw that Australian flight attendant with the two kids — she is not an other. When Sawyer was in the cage and saw the group of people just staring at him…those were people from the plane…

they were people from the plane, but they were the people taken by the others. I’m assuming they were the people on jacob’s list. And they had become become others by that point. They were all creepy and “infected” like the people with Rousseau who went into the temple.

  6. Yeah, that’s what I thought. They were definitely normal people on the plane. Then the others got ‘em.

By the way, aren’t the others still on their trip to the Temple? Well, they’re obviously already there since it’s been like 6 episodes, but I’m starting to get nervous that they haven’t been around. That’s never good.

They were taken by the Others and presumably brought to the temple just like Danielles people were. They were turned into Others.

The Others it seems do not really have much of an agenda of taking children. That is more Ben’s thing since he’s trying to fix the pregnancy issues. Ben took Alex for different reasons.

I was thinking the death of babies and their mothers had something to do with the death of Ben’s mother during childbirth.

  10. True, true. I’m not really sure — maybe you’re right. Maybe they just killed any child that was born. I think it is possible to say that Alex definitely was supposed to die as a baby, and that’s why Ben had to let her die in the 4th season — because it was her destiny.

  11. Even though he wasn’t aware of it. But yeah, the island was going to kill her one way or another.

It’s not just babies though… Ben was sent to kill Danielle… Charles didn’t even know Alex existed…

We think Charles didn’t know about Alex. Who knows what any of these guys really know.

  14. blakecomer, thanks for making me think more on this subject!

You are correct in saying, we do not know what Widmore did or didn’t know about Alex. But, I am pretty certain he tells Ben, “I told you to kill them”, if recollection serves me.

At least, I was under the impression Widmore knew!

I’ll have to go back and check exactly what he says… all I remember was Ben being all “WTF? You didn’t tell me there’d be a kid” and Charles was all “Kill it before it craps on itself and stinks up the whole camp” and Ben was all “It’s a baby, not an it” and Widmore was like “a bunch of dude and women who have never given birth have no chance of being able to feed that thing” and Ben was all “I’m lactating right now, the baby will be fine”…

I might be remembering it wrong though.

I seriously, through all the crazy things my mind makes me think f on this show, have a VERY hard time believing, that the island, ‘wants’ or ‘doesnt want’ anything.
I think many of the not being able to die aspects are related to timetravel, and maybe Jacob or Smokie want or dont want something…but I seriously think it is just an island…

OK - so we change the vocabulary of it. Jacob wanted Alex to die or Smokie wanted Alex to die. And because that didn’t happen - babies aren’t being born.

    Does that seem feasible?

Better, but I still hold this belief that its isnt as much a matter as someone wanting anything, as much as it it something not supposed to be the way it is due to fate/destiny.
Someone being alive or dead, when they are supposed to be the opposite…course correction in a way by the universe…paradoxal elements, preventing any further human life, due to the fact that some one was alive that was supposed to die.
From there, the branches on their family tree, are just not universally allowed to flower, and if they do, the branch falls off, and dies.
