  1. Ben did lie about it. The only three people we know of that were born on the island are ethan, alex, and aaron. I don’t know if it makes you special, but ethan and alex are dead so i don’t know.

  2. Alex was born on island, is now dead and seemingly resurected, and telling Ben in the temple that he better follow Locke, or else. She was born because the island wanted her to be born. Claire had Aaron on the island, because he is Chistians grandson and the island resurectected him so it wants him and his decendands there. Could the island itself be causing the fertiliy problems because it does not want those people there. Ethan I don’t know about, we haven’t seen him resurected have we? Maybe he wasn’t supposed to be born and the losties interference changed it, and he was born. Jin was sterile before island, wasn’t he? Yet Sun became pregnant. Maybe because the island wanted her to concieve. Maybe her child has a purpose in the future we are not aware of yet and is just off island being kept safe
from the impending war. Same could apply to Arron. A seemingly resurected Claire told Kate “Don’t you dare bring him back” or somthing to that effect. Because its not time for him to be there. A war is approaching.

  3. Ben WAS born on the island – in the temple.

I don’t think Ethan is special because he was born on the island, ‘cuz if there was a problem at the time of his birth people would have been more amazed and Horace would have been more concerned. The issue isn’t being born on the island – it’s the woman surviving long enough on the island to give birth. Juliette thought it was in the conception – which would make Ji Yeon the special one.

Since we’ve seen healthy babies conceived and born on the island when the mother hasn’t been on the island long, I think it’s exposure to the island that is detrimental. Radiation from Jughead is a possible option.

I wondered if it was a problem when Alex was born – and that’s why Ben wasn’t supposed to kill the baby and Widmore stayed silent when Ben challenged him about it. (That or something about killing innocents, which Ben has said he’s never done … of course it WAS from Ben, and who are you gonna’ believe … Ben, or your own lyin’ brain?)

  4. watcurious, where did we see Ben being born on the island. I occasionally miss a show here and there that I have to catch online. I thought he was born and his mom died at that point and his father brought him to the island when he was about 12. Ii thought it was off island though that it happened.

  6. Dizzy, I don’t think we saw a resurrected Alex, I think we saw a manifestation… you know, like Walt, Yemi and a handful of other either dead or not present people who have appeared to guide people. Lots of theories around what that is all about, but I think most can agree, that wasn’t Alex.

LaFonts… I think he was meaning metaphorically, as in the island brought Ben back to life. That event may possibly have caused Ben to reallly THINK that he was born on the island… the Other’s often remind me of “The Lost Boys” from Peter Pan and this seems to be another allusion to that story, where Ben and the other Others may think themselves to be products of the island and not settlers.
