the new “anti-locke”?

i’ve been seeing a lot of theories that the guy in the black shirt at the beginning of the season finale has taken on the form of locke. i was convinced of that too. but i just thought of something while reading another post. the guy knew where jacob lived and knew where to find him. but john seemed to need richard to tell him where to find him. if he already knew, then why didn’t he just take ben there in the first place, instead of wasting time and going to the others and richard and convincing them to see jacob?

and on another note…i was recently thinking about ethan. we know that baby miles and his mom and all other unimportant persons were evacuated from the island. but if ethan and his mother were evacuated too, then how come they (or maybe just ethan?) got to come back, while miles and his mom never heard from dr. chang ever again? we know that both horace and dr. chang are alive after the incident.

  1. aching_for_perfection, Ethan’s mother was Amy, who is also believed to be Amelia from the book club, in Otherville.

They likely joined the ranks of the others, and did not leave ‘the island’ for reasons unknown.

    Hope that clarifies.

  2. that’s interesting. now i’m wondering when and why amy would leave the DI and horace to join the others…she seemed like she was all gung ho to kill sayid to protect the DI when they thought he was an other.

  3. I’m really not too sure about the Amy equals Amelia theory… but if it’s true it would make sense that Amy wanted to execute Sayid. If she was an Other already at that point then she would know that Sayid isn’t an Other. She knows he’s not from the DI. He would seem like a threat to both groups.

  4. I think that Locke (who I believe is the man from the beach) was pretending so not to get anyone suspicious, I dont think Ben would have killed Jacob had he known that he wasn’t Locke 😀

  5. highbrow, there is only one tiny problem with that logic, and that is, that in 1977, this was Amy’s present.

Her future self, if she is Amelia, would have no recollection of Sayid, as he wasn’t in her past, at that point.

Richard Alpert also seems to be afflicted by similar lapses in memory and recall, in that sometimes he knows about certain characters, and sometimes he doesn’t.

I am not sure we will receive clarity on this, until towards the end of Lost.

  6. highbrow, you could be right about them not being the same person, but there is logic to it.

That will also not solve any great mysteries, and we know all to well, that the ‘time issues’ cannot be relied upon, to tell us who knew what and when.

Following that same road, will lead to disaster! lol

  7. Yeah, there is logic to it… there’s logic against it too… I think you’re right, it won’t solve any mysteries either way… unfortunately this is our summer break from Lost and now is the time to get into the minutia just because there isn’t anything else to talk about and there won’t be for a while…

  8. I thought Ethan was recruited similar to Juliette? I know he was there when Richard was drugging her to get her on the sub.Was he not recruited and then he found out, remembered, whatever that he’d already been to the island as did Charlotte and Miles?

  9. Ethan was born on the island. His parents are Amy and Horace. We still don’t know how he came to be with the Others but we know he was with them before Ben took over as leader at least.
