We are now viewing a potential threat in 1977 with 'the incident', occurring. Presumably, most of Dharma were removed from 'the island', for safety reasons. This is something I find quite perplexing in terms if 'the purge', which supposedly happens, many years later. If Dharma were still around at this time, clearly whatever 'the incident' was/is was not sufficient enough to kill them off, including 'the others'. I believe we are either still missing information, or something is about to change these events, and re-write history. Regardless, of what that may be. It is very reminiscent of what happened in World War II. We are led to believe he did this for selfish reasons, but perhaps there is far more to this story. Thanks for bringing up a very good point!
