They are some sort of religious cult type thing, that pretty much happens to be right. They could be a group made up by one of the previous leaders, who seem to be banished from the island after they stop being leaders, or just someone else in the others' group who left the island and taught about it. They seem to only have word of mouth knowledge about the island, not first hand.
