The Incident and the consequences

I don’t believe the “Incident” was the detonation of Jughead.

  1. I like your approach to the consequences of what we saw in the finale. You’re not the only one who believes that the nuclear blast is the incedent talked about on the blast door map and orientation film. The paradoxes are a tricky thing to tackle and there are many ways and beliefs on how to deal with them. This is going to sound like a shameless plug but you may be interested in viewing two posts that I have put up about time travel. Again I like the approach you took to this.

  2. on first thought, i thought the incident in ’85 was the Bears winning the superbowl and the release of the super bowl shuffle. It caused widespread panic. But then i realized that happened in 86.

There are too many incidents in ’85 to tell which at this point.

Reagan was sworn in for a second term.

We are the world was recorded.

Ray Finkle held the laces out.

Mike Tyson makes his debut in a startling 1st round knockout.

A car bomb is planted in Beirut by CIA mercenaries killing 80 and injuring 200.

Gorbachev becomes general secretary of the soviet Communist party.

Five lionesses at the Singapore Zoo are put on birth control.

WrestleMania debuts at Madison Square Garden.

The United Kingdom has its first ever national Glow-worm day.

Coca-Cola changes its formula and releases New Coke.

An explosive device sent by the Unabomber injures John Hauser at UC Berkeley.

STS-51-G: Space Shuttle Discovery completes its mission, best remembered for having Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the first Arab and first Muslim in space, as a Payload Specialist. (payload specialist, hmm go figure)

U.S. Route 66 is officially decommissioned

Live Aid pop concerts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and London raise over £50 million for famine relief in Ethiopia.

  3. I personally believe the incident stopped the anamolaity. (I can’t spell, sorry.) But the plane is still going 2 crash due to the theory of course correction.

  4. CapnYangalang, I agree with you about ‘the incident’ in 1985, not being what just occurred in 1977. I recently mentioned this on another post.

Also, the writers have vehemently stated that they are not going to deal with any paradoxes on Lost. So, I believe that, finding an alternative way around this, is likely the approach they will take.

    Good thoughts!

  5. I think the “Incident” is yet to be revealed.

I read on http://www.timelooptheory.com/the_timeline.html that the pushing of the button causes a timeloop of 108 minutes. Maybe the Incident isn’t really an incident but rather that when women fall pregnant when the timeloop is being reset that they then can’t carry the baby to full term and therefore dies??? I really don’t know how that works. Maybe somebody can help with that.

    btw… I’m new! Hi all!!!
