season one (again) episode 5

i was re-watching said episode, and noticed that when jack sees his dad whilst boone is talking to jack, it doesnt quite look like christian on the first look.
what i thought was it looked like a bald man ( in my mind it looked like locke in the tux he was wearing in the coffin), but then when he walked into the forest it looked like christian and you could see his hair.
anyone else thought this or is my eyes playing tricks on me?
