I’m confused: between seasons 4 and 5 did three years pass?

i don’t have a definitive answer for you, maybe someone else will come along and do that, but I can say a few things.

Time may jump but you don’t miss anything.

whatever you need to know will be told to you.

Season 5 is awesome, but it confused the hell out of me, I dont want to spoil anything for you, but you said you saw episode one of season 5 so you know they go back in time, like when locke sees eko’s brothers plane come flying overhead… well there is a decent amount of jumping back and forth which is what made season 5 so confusing, I had to watch it all over again within a short amount of time when it was over, because i could not keep the storyline straight.

im not sure how to answer the flash forward is the present question… that’s just the way they tell the story. (if i’m understanding your question right)

I don’t think you missed anything.

I believe season 5 fills in those gaps, of what happened during those three years.

all i can say is, wait till the season 5 finale, its awesome!

hi lostlove, i havnt watched season 4 in a while, both seasons 4&5 are really intense packed full of info.if i remember correctly the oceanic 6 left the island.and the rest of our losties were left flashing through time on the island.
yeah i think 3 years or so had past in time when the oceanic 6 returned. jack had a relationship with kate but they had split at the time they returned. sawyer and the rest of them were members of the d.i, and sawyer and juliet were in a relationship and living happily at dharmaville.
i hope this has helped you out a little? like i said its been a while and i have only seen season 4 & 5 once. if you watch a few more episodes it will make a bit more sense to you. eko rocks

Just watch the episodes in order without knowing what is going to happen later. That is the way the writers intended. And if you are confused, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. At least you shouldn’t have to wait a week to find out what happens next.

When they first introduced the flash forwards in season 4 I decided to view what was happening on the Island as a flash back from what was happening off Island. In otherwords I basically reversed everything in my mind.
