Time may jump but you don't miss anything. whatever you need to know will be told to you. Season 5 is awesome, but it confused the hell out of me, I dont want to spoil anything for you, but you said you saw episode one of season 5 so you know they go back in time, like when locke sees eko's brothers plane come flying overhead... well there is a decent amount of jumping back and forth which is what made season 5 so confusing, I had to watch it all over again within a short amount of time when it was over, because i could not keep the storyline straight. im not sure how to answer the flash forward is the present question... that's just the way they tell the story.
