MIB’s plan comes to fruition.

I have a detailed theory here that I feel strongly about. I apologize if I step on anyone’s foot here that may have posted similar theories. Please hear me out on this and tell me what you think.

(1) The trail of ash that surrounds the cabin is associated with the smoke monster. (2) Possibly, MIB was the one using the cabin in Jacob’s absence. (3) The image of this smoke monster was MIB’s only way of voyaging the island.

(4) The moment Locke touches the trail of ash, enters the cabin, hears the voice saying “help me” and eventually gets shot and left for dead by Ben and then revived by the image of Walt, is the moment MIB’s plans are set in motion.

(5) This being the reason that Ilana’s crew finds the trail of ash broken and the cabin empty with MIB finally taken form in Locke’s image. (6) MIB has been behind the imagery of Christian, Walt, Ben’s mother, Dave and others prior to Locke’s body arriving back on the island.

(7) The loophole is possibly this: MIB finally had a body/image of a former island leader that he could take form of and motivate someone to kill his nemesis, Jacob.

What do you think?

  1. DEStination, some very good thoughts here!

We do not know who placed the ‘circle of ash’ around Jacob’s cabin or why. However, I think we can determine it was to keep Jacob’s friend trapped inside.

I re-watched Cabin Fever and noted that Locke carefully stepped over the ash, so I am not sure who broke it, and/or when. But, Ben may have broken it.

I am in the camp, who believes that the Smoke Monster is a separate entity at this point. The Smoke Monster did appear as Walt to Locke when he was in the pit.

My understanding of this was, that it was ‘the island’ who was telling Locke he had more work to do.

As for Jacob’s friend finding his loophole, I think that the long-term animosity between Ben & Locke provided him with all of the ammunition that was needed to succeed with his plan. Both Ben & Locke were pawns, but I believe Ben was the bigger pawn of the two!

    Nice theory!

  2. #2 by waycurious

Thinkin’ Ben was told to bring Locke to the cabin and MIB is foiled again.

The island speaks to Ben. Maybe Jacob noticed some things Ben was told to do wasn’t from him and figured out MIB’s plan and told Ben to bring whoever fit the description that would fit a loophole.
