If Adam and Eve are Rose and Bernard I'm going puke at the tackiness of "black and white" that has been mentioned in the comments to this post.

You're right - Jack could be wrong. He's not an expert - and maybe TPTB gave him that line to throw us off.

If he was right - NONE of the main characters died in the 50's or 60's (that we've seen) - so he's for sure wrong, or there will be another flash, or a scene from that time period we haven't seen, or there's an ALT timeline.

If it is Rose and Bernard (if Jack as wrong, but at least close in estimation) then they must have died, not from natural causes, not long after 1977. Think they died from the effects of the bomb?

If Bernard was around 60 in 2007/1977 (I don't think we ever knew Rose's age), and he died around 80 years old, then he would die around 1997. Again - in/around 1997 there would be nobody to lay them to rest in the caves, and Jack's estimation would be way more than a little off.

It's too obvious to have a hidden anagram that reveals the Adam and Eve mystery. BORING. It's a distraction.

Oh yeah, i'm definately not taking credit for the anagram... i think i read it on this site before it shut down so i pretty much knew what i was looking for.

Part of me wants to believe the bones are Rose and Bernard because it seems like everything just falls into place. But another part of me wants to believe that there is still a deeper mystery behind Adam and Eve. I really like that Anne and Ben thing... OH I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING! If it wasn't Rose and Bernard then the bodies must have already been there in 1977 when Rose and Bernard were living in the caves, because they would have already died and been layed to rest. So... what does that mean? Maybe Rose and Bernard put the stones with them? It doesn't seem like Rose and Bernard would have enjoyed living in the cave with two dead bodies.

If the bones are Rose and Bernard, someone said something about who layed them to rest, i think that depends on the outcome of the hydrogen bomb... maybe some time in the future Jack or someone else went back to the caves to lay them to rest out of respect. Or it could have been a random Other who saw two bodies and decided to make proper graves out of reverence for the dead... or MIB or Jacob could have planted the stones, knowing that the losties would find them in the future/past...

Just 'cuz Jack said '50 years' doesn't make it so. He's not a forensic scientist, he had nothing to actually test against, and maybe the cave ages differently. I'm in w/Bernard & Rose.

cyan-eyed, AES posted this anagram around the beginning of Season 5 or just prior to, if memory serves me. It is not a new discovery.

Originally, as ScrollLocke points out, the time did not match up, so I had my doubts. So much has changed in Lost since then, I think that it is unlikely, as has been pointed out in other recent theories, that Rose & Bernard would turn out to be Adam & Eve.

oh and one last thing. i dont think this is true but its something i dont think anyone has mentioned yet. the bones can belong to ben and annie. the writers say annie will be very important to the show and bens life...and perhaps after time travel he finds her and he is happy dying with her.

he would be black (kind of evil) and she would be white (pure, innocent and good). just something to chew on

yes the fact that they are black and white is tacky. but the black and white also signifies how they are always at odds, always disagreeing, always have different viewpoints yet still love each other and can reconcile their differences and respect each other.

which seems in stark contrast to EVERYONE ELSE on lost. especially MIB and Jacob.

If Jack was correct that Adam and Eve had been dead 40 or 50 years in 2004 then Rose and Bernard would have been dead in the 1950's or 1960's. We saw them in alive in 1977.

Jack also said that Adam and Eve were laid to rest there. In 1977 it's made clear that Rose and Bernard do not want to be found or get involved. So who would lay them to rest? And why the caves? Rose and Bernard never lived there.

I'd really like Adam and Eve to be either Amelia and Fred - or the parents of Jacob and MIB (where Jacob and MIB are a form of Cain and Abel).

Those two fundamental clues are inarguable.
How the hell did you notice that anagram?
That's unbelievable!
The stones are a juxtaposition of the Two Sides.
Jacob and MIB
Widmore and Ben
Jack and Locke.
The recurring theme of two sides at war, yet here, two races that have been opposed in history are UNITED and at PEACE, contrasting with one of the main themes of the show.
I am 100% confident its Bernard and Rose.
To me, it seems most people are just in denial.
