I like the bird/magnetic field idea wrt Walt. It certainly applies to pigeons (and bees). I'm not sure why the birds would die, though. (Evil corrupting Walt. Didn't notice any birds on the street Tall Walt lived. Probably responsible for global warming, too.)

Apostle, I really enjoyed "Vanished." In fact, on the original Lost Theories site I used it for the basis of my first post. This was back between the third and fourth seasons and unfortuanately I didn't save a copy of it.

Anyways it is an interesting story. One of the things that the milatary was looking into was the supposed teleportation powers of dolphins. The milatary had stumbled onto this back when they attempted the Philadelphia Experiment (which is a favorite subject of mine and I've done a post based on it). Supposedly dolphins are able to teleport along telluric currents and the navy wants to utilize that power. Suffice it to say that things don't go well and the dolphins have a hand in stopping the navy along with some human help. It is an interesting book and I suggest that if you get a chance you should read it.

Man, what a lame ass title I came up with.

Eko - I don't know if Locke and Walt are actual magnets but I feel it would explain why others perhaps get sick when returning (Charlotte) or others feel the need to return so intensely (Jack). Almost as though they were either magnetized or de-magnetized by being upon the island.

At one point I used to think that the fail-safe key that Desmond pressed kept the island either in, or out, of a timeline based upon magnetism. I would think of the island like a roller coaster car on a metal track. And depending upon the state of the button, the cart was either attached to the track due to magnetism or say, out and away from the track due to being de-magnetized. In the latter case the roller coaster car would be off of the normal timeline but still be moving parallel with it. So Desmond would press it, keep the islnad moving along a separate timeline, out of the way if you will. Then that one time, at band camp, Desmond didn't press it and 815 crashed. I thought that since he didn't depress it, the island suddenly was drawn back onto the normal timeline, the metal track we are all moving on, and interrupted the flight path of 815.

Achalli - I definitely can see your explanation being true as well. Guess I could Google "Vanished", but was it a good read?

Thanks for the replies, I was half expecting to get flamed.

I once read a book called "Vanished" where the milatary was messing around with electromagnetism in conjuction with telluric currents and they ended up screwing up a lot of birds, dolphins, and people.

I watch Flashforward also and one of my early thoughts about the crows was that whoever was responsible for the flashforward was using something that synced up with the frequency of the crow's brainwaves.

hey there. while i do think the islands magnetic properties throw off magnetic north and compasses and the like... i think the writers would have a real tough time explaining why two people are magnetic. In addition with the islands electromagnetic properties... wouldn't walt and locke get either pulled in or repelled by the islands magnetic pull?

Hahahaha I know what you mean by watching everything so intently for clues & what not. I too also watch FlashForward & its pretty good but it just doesnt make you think like LOST or wanna type up a theory about it but you could have something with the magnetic poles I just dont feel A magnetic pole could be a character.
