Walt “commander of the army”

The little dude has been the subject of many discussions since Lost began. As we all know, most if not all of the characters names have some meaning, so i checked out the meaning of Walts name….”commander of the army”!
Instantly this reminded me of the much talked about backgammon scene from series one, and Lockes speech about an ongoing war between two sides, one side light one side dark. From the beginning, Lockes character has been built up as an almost messiah like figure, and his backstory has shown him only to be a downtrodden niceguy. Walt on the other hand, always seemed brooding and sometimes creepy, as we learnt a little about his supernatural abilities, it seemed to me that the writers were forshadowing some kind of inert evil within him. One of the main themes of lost (much like most fiction) is the battle between good and evil, and knowing that the writers like to flip the script on us, and create an ambiguity as to who are the good guys and who are the bad guys, and the fact that Locke now seems to be on the dark side (and possibly leader of them), what if Walt is/was supposed to be the leader of the opposing team?

Walt was always considered ’special’ by the others, so much so that they decided he was too much to handle, and allowed his father to leave the island with him. Maybe this was something to do with M.I.B and part of his plan? Walt being too powerful to be the opposition?

When Ms Hawking arranged for the off islanders to return, she stated that they ‘all’ needed to go back, and that it was of grave importance, i think her words were if they didn’t ‘god help us all’. The writers of lost pay close attention to every intricate detail (most of the time), and every aspect of the show is there for a reason (especially in these last crucial seasons), if i remember correctly,  Walt was the only one that Locke visited off island who didn’t return on flight 316, Abaddon even reiterated that Ms Hawking said Locke needed to get them all to return, after he’d spoken to Walt, and Locke replied ‘hes been through enough’. What if Walt was supposed to go back or wasn’t even supposed to leave in the first place?

On a side note, Ms Klugh asked Micheal if he’d ever seen Walt where he wasn’t supposed to be. Walt has appeared on the island whilst also being off island, the only other person i’ve seen appear in two places at once is Locke (Flocke and Lockes dead body). I don’t know what that means but just food for thought.

Out of all the mysteries on lost, i will be dissapointed if Walts story isn’t concluded in a big way, especially after the way Micheals story ended. This isn’t exactly a theory, just a collection of thoughts, i wanted to see what you guys and gals thought of the meaning of Walts name, and its relevance to the rest of his story in season 6, if he has one that is (i really hope so).

MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL!!

As I stated on a previous post, we should get more Walt this year than in any of the previous four seasons. If not, I will be disappointed.

IS THIS NOT SOMETHING SIMILAR A RECENT THEORY THAT STEPHANIE DEACON FROM SCOTLAND POSTED NOT TOO LONG AGO OR MAYBE I’M DREAMING?
