Jacob is the smoke monster Add-on
In my last posting i put fort the proposition that jacob is the smoke monsterand i just wanted to add a few things to it.
1. Jacob and the MIB are one in the same The ying and the Yang. Duality of man forever in battle. That is why it can be seen as a beutiful white puff of smoke (i.e. jon lock’s first encounter with it.) or a black puff of smoke(i.e. everyone else) and i think that white might not just mean good and black just mean evil i think it has more to do with faith and percetion.
2. I like to think that when jacob was kicked into the fire that there was a giant black billowing smoke pillar such as the on we saw in exodus in season on. This idea is shakey because i have no idea where exactly the statue is located and what direction the losties were standing. I am also aware of the killing of jacob might not coincide with the actions in exodus but what if there were a time jump isolated at the statue then gone……
and this might be a little thin but maybe when jacob becomes the smoke monster he must absord MIB to be whole and have the o so important duality.And maybe theMIB wants the smoke monster to himself and has his own evil selfish agenda…

Okay, where is everyone getting this idea that there is a white smoke monster all the sudden? I just watched EVERY episode again and have seen nothing like this.

He said he looked into the eye of this island and what he saw was beautiful…. I don’t remember any mention of a white smoke…. But I do remember him saying he was chased by a black column of smoke

Exactly. I’m not saying that their isn’t something other than the original Smokie on this island. What I’m saying is we truly have no evidence, or even a reason to believe that there’s something resembling a white smoke monster.
It’s a cool idea I guess, but it’s just that. An idea that somehow spread, and now a lot of people believe it exists for some reason.

Well remember when Juliet and Kate were chased by the Smoke Monster (season 3) and Juliet was “flashed” while they were hiding in the tree? Bright, white flashes. Maybe this is what Locke saw.. black smoke monster flashing the bright, white light..?

Inquisitor, how can we determine, or even wonder if this is what Locke saw? What kind of conversation are we all even having here?
Kate and Juliet have not described what they saw in that instance. Yes, we saw white flashes of light. Yes it’s weird, so is Smokie.
John never once went into detail about what he saw aside from the eye of the island crap. So we shouldn’t speculate, we’ve still been given NOTHING to work with here.
On top of that, I’m seeing absolutely no evidence that anything other than good ‘ol smokie exists here.
It’s frustrating for me to see one person LITERALLY make something up, like a white smoke monster, and everyone start believing it. I’ve looked all over the place online to see if one exists, and I’m getting nothing of value.
It’s silly.
Maybe Juliet and Kate saw the ghost of a photographer that owned a camera with a huge flash. What’s the point? I don’t care what they saw. If it wasn’t smokie, which it was, how are we supposed to think any different? The writers gave us nothing there.
Maybe when Jack saw Christian on the beach at the beginning of the first season, it was actually Sawyer playing a prank on Jack. Maybe Sawyer, having seen Jack’s dad before in Sydney, somehow knowing it was his dad, dressed up like Christian to scare Jack……..for no reason.
Yeah, I’d believe that over a caucasian smoke monster right now.

Chief - are you an alt. timeline fan? because that could just as easily be looked at as ‘made up’. the only evidence for that is some Dharma photos which somebody could have hung up after the others left the barracks.
Now, realistically i dont buy this theory - just a matter of opinion - but i think its unfair to say its completely made up. The purpose of a theory site is to express what you think COULD happen, not will. I dont mean to come across as rude as i like some of the ideas you put forth, but its LOST.. Anything could happen..
And i think you are way off with the Sawyer/Christian thing lol

No, I don’t think an alternate timeline exists either……at least I REALLY hope it doesn’t. I think there is sufficient evidence to support it though (unlike white smokie). An alternate timeline idea could be backed up in all sorts of ways. I just personally think it’s ridiculous that there’s only two timelines if that’s how it plays out. Every decision by EVERY character would create a whole new timeline in my eyes.
Back to the subject - You’re right Sawyergirl, anything’s possible, I guess. And I was joking about Sawyer dressing up like Christian (as I hope you know). My point was, not one thing in this show has ever led to a white smoke monster, and yet we have believers everywhere.

As for the white smoke monster, this is the first post ive read on it, which is probably why im not as angry as you :).. But sorry bunkum i just dont see it. However, dont feel disheartened, Ive seen some theories A LOT worse

i think there was some major assumptions made here regarding the white smoke. Although John described it as “beautiful” he also told them he saw a black pillar of smoke…
Crazy, out there theories are great, but you have to have a LITTLE bit of evidence to back it up. I tried to find some for ya dude and i came up with nothing. So you’re on your own here.
but maybe i just don’t know the meaning of the word “absord”.
Chiefof16, you sounded just like i did about a year ago when this horrible theory came up about the meeting between Ben and Miles, when Miles demanded 3.2 million dollars. I did a lot of yelling. It’s a dark time in my life that i try to forget.

I think it was erased in the great crash of 09…there is no mention of a white smoke monster….gotta add this to my “Rumor Squashing” post…
This is one of those things that someone said, and everyone ran with it before researching…
If its true…many of us missed one…if not…well, thats what Bailey and Chief are for I guess…
