It is a theory that easily lends itself to understanding much of what we have seen on Lost. It seemed to apply to so many of the mysteries that I, personally did not have answers to. All of the smaller mysteries have to be tied into one larger one that is understandable. This fit in nicely.

What we are essentially speaking of is, a perpetual ‘cycle’ that applies to all life. It is a ‘cycle’ that is continual, without end.

Dabs, I never thought my little law of Eristic Escalation theory would inspire something as wonderful as you gave us here. I often find insights into Lost by relating it to other books and TV shows. One such book is the Illuminatus Trilogy. Within that book Discordinism is referenced a lot. Discordianism views the duality of the universe as order/disorder with disorder being the natural state of the universe. Order is merely the way we view and try to understand the disorder.

There is a story within the Principia Discordia, the ‘bible’ of Discordianism, that your post reminds me of.

In the beginning there was VOID. And VOID had two daughters, that of being, named Eris, and that of Non-being, named Aneris.

Eris was born pregnant and spawned Sweet, Boom, Pungent, Prickle, and Orange. Aneris had been born sterile and was jealous of the joy Wrist found in her children. So one day Aneris stole Eris’ children away and took them to the state of non-being. So Eris, distraught at what her sister had done had born more children.

The children that Eris brought forth were in a state of chaos and Eris amused herself by ordering them in different combinations. She became so engrossed in order that she had overlooked small, little disorder who went unnoticed originally because all was chaos. Eris then realized there were many ways to order chaos and many ways it cannot be ordered so she set about teaching order and disorder to play together. Eris named disorder after herself and order after her sister

Now VOID decided that being and non-being wasn’t enough and so created SPIRITUALITY.

VOID at first decreed that SPIRITUALITY would reside in both being and non-being but Eris pointed out that Aneris would steal SPIRITUALLY away and keep it for herself.

So VOID decreed that once SPIRITUALITY left the house of being that it would return to VOID.

And so it is that man does not exist until we do; we play with the world of existence and constantly order and disorder it; and then non-existence takes us away from existence while spirituality returns to Void, like a child returning from a wild circus.

Take what meaning from this that you can.

My interpretation of your statements about ‘change’ were not so literal, and felt you had reason for stating such. I don’t feel that you mad any mistake.

I know how your mind works, and it works very quickly. That doesn’t deter from any of the brilliant thoughts that you have or bring forward, either in your comments or your theories.

I have been continually inspired by you since I arrived on this site over a year ago, and still am and will continue to be.

The whole nature of theorizing is in hopes that we inspire one another to try and figure out this mystery we know as Lost. I think we accomplish that, nicely.

Dabs, you have no need to thank me…between this and Achillis posts and question on my theory…it made me realize something very important…I dont know why or how…it just did.

I began explaining other possibilities last night in the comments of my post…and I just dont know why it didnt click then.

My mind works in strange ways, and when certain people say certain things….there is a click…and things just fly…

unfortunalty, this was a loud annoying BUZZ instead of a click…that not only made me take your theory into perspective…but my own words over the entire last season…and they are simply…there will be change on the island…and now I MUST write a correction so save whats left of my face, lol…

I got sooooooooo caught up in saying why the isalnd was not different in the scene from 2007…that I sincerely lost my marbles and said “there will be no change”…

So again, thank you… although I made a mistake…I feel that I now have the time to attempt to change what Ive already done…
