Evil smokey!!!
I believe the new events we see in the latest two episodes are down to the death of smokey. I know some will disagree but just hear me out. If smokey could effect people in the real world other then on the island then the new events we see could be what would happen if smokey was killed.
In other posts I have pointed out my views on how Smokey could have been apart of Locke or at least influenced him from birth ie the miracle birth in which Locke and mother survive, the drawing of smokey locke did when he was a kid. I think smokey influenced this drawing because he may have known Alpert was going to visit and wanted Alpert to think he was special. This is also kind of backed up with Locke growing up as a kind of man of science being the swat at school. However he turns his back on science becoming the man of faith that Smokey ‘controls’. The loophole maybe? I also believe the reason children cannot be born on the island is becaus Jacob made it so otherwise Smokey would be able to groom them just like he did Locke. I think Ben while visiting the cabin has being talking with a form of smokey for years and has been trying to help him ie getting Juliet to fix the problem…..Jacob and Richard don’t stop him because his attempts would be futile. Always keeping Ben in the dark and never letting him see Jacob because they know he is in cahootz with smokey. I dont however think smokey kept Ben in the loop either because Ben seems just as shocked that it is no longa Locke but smokey in human form. I find it funny how when Ben calls smokey he comes to his aid in minutes….why? Why would something so powerful do this for Ben?
Writing this I just had a thought….maybe Ben is undercover and always has been. A bit like Snape in Harry Potter. As smokey can read peoples thoughts Ben hasn’t had contact with Jacob ever or had anything to do with him other then being the leader of the others….maybe he has being communicating with smokey but only under orders of Jacob via Richard and letters. He has always done Smokeys bidding for him making smokey think he is loyal to him….but there is an end game planned in which Ben knows what had to be done…..he knew that he would have to kill Jacob to get even closer to smokey in which point he will find his weakness and kill him. Basically Locke was smokeys Ace in the hole. However Ben is Jacobs. Its a story of faith and Ben has faith in the things he has done was in the interest of the island. Im not sure how to explain it but I will think about it more and get back to you. Let me know what you all think. Cheers.

With regards to Ben, I hope this turns out to be the case. I am reminded of the speech he gave Jack and Sun when they were on their way to meet Eloise Hawking. The speech about what he had to do to keep them safe and how they would thank him and never stop thanking him.

I also believe the man in the cabin was Locke from a different time as it is his features….I also believe it is Smokey lol….I think it is the Smokey we know now as Flocke time travelled back to put things into action. Ben also (no matter how shocked he appears at the sight of Lockes dead body on the floor) is a good actor and deceiver…as we well know. He could know all along what happened and what happens by this future smokey relaying this information back to him. The ‘ash’ or wateva could have been put there by Ben under smokeys instruction to stop other smokey from that time coming face to face with him which is what could be his weakness…..maybe if you come in contact with yourself in another time-line then some kind of distortion happens and u dissolve into nothing. That last sentence is a long shot lol.

Yes, perhaps Ben does the entire story. Maybe he knew Locke was MIB and possibly killing Jacob has been part of the plan all along. Very interesting.

Im not sure if Ben is undercover I would say more like there is still something very special about him that we have yet to find out. Like what it means to be dipped and saved by the pool. Lump Juliet in with this too.
as far as Locke being born with smokey in him. not on board. Tabula Rasa!! lol

I was half joking with the hole tabula rasa thing.
I guess the picture will play some sort of role in learning what really happen to Locke. But it is also ones perspective as of right now. I don’t like to think of Locke as being born with some smokey in him.
With all the talk about consciousness traveling it could be that a consciousness from another reality is in play. Trying to get through to Locke. Maybe even to warn him. Hopefully will find out.

Hmmm, There is alot of speculation & it feels like your forcing in the blanks to make a grand theory but I do agree & disagree.
Just little things like if Locke had some Smokie in him since birth & was influenced by smokie then why would he be brought up as you say “A man of science” but then become “a man of faith” what causes the switch? (I’m guessing you are referring to Young Locke not wanting to go to science camp in a flashback?)
I totally forgot about the drawings Locke did as a child of smokie & that maybe the strongest point to your theory & is a great observtion & connection but I think Loophole makes a good point as well referring to all the consciousness travel in the show & now with timelines bleeding through with another, Im not sure what to think.

lol this isn’t my grand theory….im just gettin feedback on minor issues I have then the outcome I get from that theory will go in 2 my big 1….im not forcing anything Im just trying to work out how Locke would know about smokey to drawer him when he was like 6….and u r indeed correct that flashback is the 1 2 which i was refering

I believe that the young Locke was dreaming about Smokey. Young children sometimes draw things in their dreams that disturb them. Now how he could have been dreaming about Smokey? I don’t know!

yea thats what im saying he dreamt about smokey because parts of smokeys memory is inside him. i think this even more now after watching the last episode in which they become infected….i think lockes dad was infected when locke was conceived so locke was born a special child indeed. he wasn’t infected but he was apart of smokey….kind of like smokeys half son
