Just little things like if Locke had some Smokie in him since birth & was influenced by smokie then why would he be brought up as you say "A man of science" but then become "a man of faith" what causes the switch? (I'm guessing you are referring to Young Locke not wanting to go to science camp in a flashback?) Ben also (no matter how shocked he appears at the sight of Lockes dead body on the floor) is a good actor and deceiver...as we well know. He could know all along what happened and what happens by this future smokey relaying this information back to him. The 'ash' or wateva could have been put there by Ben under smokeys instruction to stop other smokey from that time coming face to face with him which is what could be his weakness.....maybe if you come in contact with yourself in another time-line then some kind of distortion happens and u dissolve into nothing. That last sentence is a long shot lol.
