Christian was the first of the ‘ghosts’ to turn up. But when have we seen him and to what purpose?

The first time he appears to jack, and jack discovers theres no body in the coffin.
He appears to Claire and takes her away - leaving Aaron to be raised by another.
We later see him in the cabin, advising Locke to move the island.
He appears to Michael right before he dies.
He helps Locke when Locke falls down the shaft whilst moving the island.

who thinks this was all MIB laying the groundwork of his game?
