Hi zanner, some very interesting thoughts on the 'science' and 'faith' issues in the show.

When it comes to religion, 'faith' is rarely questioned by society, rather the differences noted. However, this is not the case when it comes to 'science'. In terms of 'science' the research must be proven beyond a 'reasonable doubt' before society accepts the findings. Until then, science is referred to as 'junk' science or pseudo-science.

I can't help but feel that Lost in some fashion is making a 'statement' to society and addressing all aspects of 'faith', whether the beliefs stem directly from religion or are based in the realms of scientific beliefs.

The characters have being placed in the position to question both of these issues. In the end, it will come down to which one they have more faith and belief in, or, perhaps a little of both.

I'll wait until next week's episode "Sundown" before elaborating off of my theory using "House of the Rising Sun" in season one. I have an idea that fits with my theory of the "flip flops" I think are coming using House of the Rising Sun episode.

I'm not so convinced it's a matter of Good Vs. Evil. I'm definitely not prepared to give Jacob halo wings, he had a smug sense of arrogance in last night's episode that was no different than MIB/Flocke. I think they both teeter on a thin line of "right" and "wrong"

Inquisitor, i like what you just said about the souls of the dead being in Smokie.
I think that MIB is one of those souls and somehow became the main force in smokie and gained control, much like what might be happening with Lockes soul now.

okay zanner, I really like most of what you put in here. I really believe that Locke is "inside" Nemesis, somehow, as are all "souls" that the Smoke Monster takes (Yemi, Alex). The "don't tell me what I can't do" line(s) from "The Substitute" really give way to this belief. I hadn't thought of Locke's "they didn't lose your father" quote mattering in this respect until you mentioned it here, so thank you for bringing that to light. Locke's body being buried on the beach means nothing as they only buried his body.. Locke is not gone, his body is gone..

.. And my belief that Locke will save us all is still alive and rationally explained!!
