I agree, I don't believe the times were simpler though - I just think that news travelled slower, and (as you mentioned) there was not as many distractions, so people were faced with what they were immediately surrounded with in order to communicate. In regards to that, has anyone noticed (and I could be mistaken here) that besides the off Island usage of cellphones - I don't recall ever seeing one person on Island with a cell phone.
