That the time line of things happening on the island is fake right Benhamine? That si what I ws alluding to, but actually someone has written this in a post called “How this will End” so anyway they have written. but then I read somewhere else that it has been suggested the timelines will definitley merge. So this would mean that theory is wrong.

Anyway with the writers they can argue it anyway. i thought there was no time travel? And time travel happened. So we have to take what they say with a pinch of salt.

@nachochris- Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof stated clearly and plainly in the podcast that this alternate (although they mention they hate the title alternate time-line) time-line is just as real as the first time-line. I think you’re trying to say that this time-line is fake. I might’ve misunderstood you.

perhaps there is no alternate timeline. The alternate timeline (locke being kicked from his job) is what actually happens. I believe people have mentioned this before. ie that timeline is a “soap opera”. We have grown so attached to the characters that they are showing us a glimpse of what happens after they land.

Katetheorises: I like your idea of infinite possibilities of how things occur, like the film sliding doors. But the plane crashing is not necessarily THE event. Because in fact, surely that does not happen if Desmond does not push the buttons. Or does it? Seems to be that Desmond affects things. Like the cricket bat incident. They were pulled to the island for a reason. “We are here for a reason Jack!”.

Anyway, I bet we wont get too many more clues until many more episodes down the road!!!!

AHHHHH these writers have us by the ba*ls.. ahem…throat and its brilliant!!

Bingo, what may be playing out right know is the Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum physics. Basicly at any time there is a choice to be made the universe splits into every possible outcome for that choice, but each version is not aware of the other versions. My post “Schrodinger’s Island” uses a variation of this called Quantum Suicide.

Since LA X I’ve been assuming that the detonation of Jughead has been the cause of the split we are seeing, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. The reality off Island has split off at an earlier point, possibly, but not necessarily, during the incident. For the Many Worlds Interpretation a large amount of energy is not needed for the split to occur, the universe just splits.

I recommend looking up ‘multiverse’ on Wikipedia and ‘quantum suicide’ on HowStuffWorks for better explainations.
