I thought that the temple looked more like it was more of a Mayan design than an Egyptian one. Anyone have any thoughts about where there could possibly be both and what it has to do with Jacob and MIB being enemies?

Honestly, the temple is a hodgepodge. There are Egyptian glyphs inscribed in the walls, so I think the connection is going to be solely an Egyptian one (also given the statue). The architecture is a real mess. It looks like something make by set designers to look like an “old” temple in the most generic way. Yes, the step-pyramid is very reminiscent of meso-american architecture, but they’ve been erected in a similar fashion all over the ancient world. Interestingly enough though, Mayan, Aztec, etc. pyramids tend to actually be temples as opposed to the Egyptian ones, which are really overdressed tombs. Also, the Mayans had a real penchant for slaughtering infants atop their temples - perhaps they should tie that into the island’s obstetric difficulties… heh.

I dunno i think egyptian because of the taweret, pictures etc. Im really leaning towards an age old story that all of the audience has heard about or at least it would require minimal research for them to work out. I know most of us here might spend 80% of our lives researching lost but i think for the average joe that sits down on his wednesday night without googling for 5 hours afterwards the story needs to be somewhat familliar.

Early Egyptian pyramids were in the step pyramid style so it can still be consistant with the other Egyptian mythology.
