What really caused the Alt timeline?

I rewatched “The Inncident Part 2″ just now, and I realized something I hadn’t before. Maybe it wasn’t the bomb that caused the Alt timeline, maybe it was Jacob’s death? If you notice, both of these things happen at the same time. And when Jacob visits Hugo he tells him he died an hour ago. I’m not sure how this would fit. But, obviously Jacob had a lot of influence on the Oceanic 815 survivor’s lives, before they were on the island, so this could be the reason for the changes in the timeline?

Not sure… but what are your thoughts on this??

I had made a comment about this in another post - AES’s Dead Man Flashing, I think, or something. Anyway, I agree that it could be either one.

i think it is plausible. if jacob was stuck in or created some sort of timeloop because of his necessity in the past and future, his death would have drastic consequences and would seem like a very hard task to accomplish. maybe jacob was able to create a similar enough outcome so that the same things that need to occur do but without his influence, allowing himself to be killed?
