I think we all know that he plays a significant role in the story, and it is for that reason alone, that I believe he is the person Jacob is waiting for when he says 'they're coming'. I wonder how crazy claire would react to aaron being around. there are good cases for many people.

Not sure why, except that the writers introduced him early in the first episode of this season for a reason. The same logic behind re-introducing Adam and Eve as a sort of refresher from season one for viewers who don't remember such small details. If indeed Adam and Eve figure prominently in the series end game then the writers needed to bring them back in. Viewers needed to be clued in that Desmond is still part of the narrative despite his seeming happy ending at end of season 5. I vote for Desmond.
