Claire’s Deal

So, I’m positive Claire made a deal w/ someone either her father Christian, or Smokey. Her deal obviously was that she had to abandon Aaron for Carole Littleton her mother to awaken from her coma. Claire felt a great deal of guilt regarding her mother’s coma. There was NO explanation of how Carole was awakened at Christian’s funeral. Hence, that was Claire’s deal… I’m 100% in my belief in Claire’s deal.

I’m just unsure of who her deal was with either Christian, Jacob, or Smokey… I still don’t want to believe that Christian is smokey, I believe he is something else. His casket is empty on the island, opposite to John Locke’s. I still really believe he faked his death to bring Jack and Claire to the island…

If Claire made her deal w/ Jacob and/or her father she felt extreme guilt about abandoning Aaron, and was hence claimed. Therefore, she is wandering about the island trying to get him back. She remembers what the psychic said, Aaron can NOT be raised by another… (See b/c of her decision to save Carole he was…)

I can’t wait to see what Claire reaction will be when she finds out her mum is alive and raising Aaron… Thoughts…

  1. I think she must have a new deal with Locke, though. Their dialogue confirmed that. And I think that deal is to have Aaron back. Moreover, Jin and Sawyer may have made their own deals.

  2. Like it.

She may not have intended to lose Aaron in the bargain.

Don’t know what Christian IS. Don’t believe he’s Smokie and too embodied (ex. could hold Aaron) to be a ‘vision’ (can’t think of another example of one holding something other than what they brought with themselves … though Hurly’s Charlie slapped). Perhaps, he too is ‘infected’.

By whom? Probably MIB, since his actions seemed to be more what MIB would want.

  3. Ok..this is so confusing. Remember when Kate was in Aaron’s room and Claire appeared (ghostlike) in a dream or somehow and screamed “Don’t you bring him back!”. I assumed it was Aaron she was speaking about? Now, why all of a sudden a change, she wants him back, and if the dream was real/not a dream, she would have known Kate was taking care of Aaron.

  4. I know the scene you are referring to, and the scene is not a problem for me at all… Dogen explained to Saiyd that the bad in him outweighed the good that’s how he was claimed… Same goes for Claire, she still has some good in her, she could have sent her essence like that. Or, it really was just a dream…

I agree about Christian, he is something different… I think Claire went nuts, and totally lost it after her decision..

  5. Agouramadre, perhaps the Claire in Kate’s dream is the real dead Claire, not the infected one?

Here are some more interesting clips:

When the phone rings in Kate’s dream, a voice (Locke?) says in reverse that they have to go back before it’s too late.

There is a deleted clip where Claire wakes up and asks Hurley what her father is doing there. Then she asks if they are dead. Hurley answers that in that case heaven sucks. I assume that Claire may be infected at this point.

    Claire appologizes to her mother.

  6. Cool idea, I hadn’t made the connection with her Mum getting better. I’d say she made that agreement with Jacob simply because he seems to be the one making that arrangement with a few people.
I had felt that Kate seeing Claire was more a subconscious need to ease her own guilt. Don’t know?
I thought Dogen’s words about the infection were interesting “A darkness is growing in him- when it reaches his heart he won’t be the person you know.” Not necessarily evil or bad – just different.

  7. I went to the youtube link above to see the scene mentioned (Kate dreaming about Claire telling her not to take Aaron back to the island) – and there was also a video of the phone call Kate received (in her dream)in reverse – in reverse it said, “the island needs you, you have to go back before its too late.” So I ask you, who dreams in reverse?

  8. Well, we know the island needed Kate back. Her name was in the lighthouse, #51 Austen… She’s a candidate, and had to help with Jughead, to cause ‘the incident’. So the dream could have been sent by Jacob to lure her back to the island without Aaron. As we have seen maybe the island isn’t the safest place for Aaron right now.

(I read somewhere yesterday that #51 Austen was also written in the cave, but wasn’t given a close up. In the cave it was crossed out. This is something Lindelof or Cuse said in an interview.)

  9. @username… I don’t think Charlie had a deal w/ Jacob or anyone yet. He sacrificed himself because he loved Claire, and Aaron. He wanted them to be saved. IMHO

  10. You think Christian “Faked” his own deah to bring jack and Claire to the island? I doubt that because i seem to remember Jack identifying the body in Sydney, and he looked pretty damn dead to me.

  11. First off, Jack’s father is dead. No way does he just show up on and off Island if he isn’t alive in that timeline, but like Charlie he is “here” as well. Not all to sure what that means yet, but my thoughts are maybe an alternate reality, a diffeent string… As for his appearances on the Island, I believe that all dead bodies that have not been buried are fair game for MIB/Jacob and or any other higher source that we might not be privy to just yet. Christian to me always seemed like he was being occupied by both sides at different times.

As for “don’t bring him back”, it could me Aaron… it could mean Locke… and it very well could mean Jack (Claire’s half-brother and Kate’s boy toy). If Claire is working for MIB, maybe he could somehow communicate off island in peoples sub-conscious… and maybe he understands that Jack is key to foiling his grand plan… my 2 cents.

  12. I really don’t think Christian is dead.. I wrote a theory on this. He could have easily faked his death. Widmore faked an entire plane crash.
