Final Scene: Place your bets here
My bet is that the final scence of Lost before they cut to end title shot of Lost (which will be a white background with black lettering (like at the end of the Incident part 2)) will be Jack’s eye closing, bringing us full circle and hopefully some kind of closure, although I think we will be debating some stuff 20-30 years from now.
Let me know if agree or disagree, if you disagree, tell me what you think the final scene will be.
I will agree and furthermore say that he closes the eye as he dies. Also this will imply that either the world ends or just possibly the existence of the island and everyone on it.
Well, everyone believes that, don’t they? 😉
my bets on the final scene, i have 3 options:
1. someone opening their eye with the camera zoomed in, and the someone would probably be jack, and we find out it was all a dream (like alice in wonderland) [if this is the ending i would be super pissed)
2. i forget who it was but someone posted a variation of this already, they said it would be ben and jack sitting on the island like jacob and mib. i think it would be that but it wouldnt be ben and jack, it would either be jack and locke or jack and sawyer perhaps depending on how things go.
3. i like your jack’s eye closes and he dies, the writer did say there will not be a happy ending, so maybe his eye closes as he’s lying in the cave with kate(?) who is also dying and he is the “adam” of the adam and eve. [i have to say i dont think this will happen but it was just an idea that came to me from reading your post]
If it ends with the revelation that everything is just a time loop, it’s not really going to surprise any of the hardcore fans. I hope they come up with something more surprising!

How about a shot of the beach and then all of sudden a hand bursts through the sand out of the grave of John Locks…boom…Lost.
I think it will be Kate choosing the dark side (black stone) and Jack choosing the light (white stone). They will realize good and evil is relative and love conquers all.
Of course, as Adam and Eve. They age to skeletons (as opposed to not againg at all) because there is no longer any need to protect the island.
But how can Jack be the new Jacob if Jack dies in the end?

Ahh I don’t want it to end! But I hope the final scene is something shocking that makes everyone go “Woah, what!?!?” and hopefully ties the show together, leaving us satisfied 🙂
The candidate will be who sacrafises theirself for mankind…..and jack with the closing of his eye
Last scene will be Jack (the new Jacob) and the Smoke Monster (still in the form of John Locke) and locke says “I figured out a loop hole before. I can do it again.” Jack gives him one of those crazy laugh smile things he does and says “You didn’t find a loophole. If you did, you wouldn’t be here right now. Hungry?” As Jack holds up a fish, LOST!
Instead of the screen going black with “LOST” appearing, the screen goes black and says “If you want to know the deepest secrets of the island, watch the commercial breaks during Flashforward every single week…only on ABC.”

I think the odds-on favorite is Jack and Locke (Smokey) sitting on the beach as Jacob and Smokey did back in the 1800’s. Though I do think JacobsDoubleWide’s theory about John Locke’s hand bursting through the sand is pretty hilarious..
There will be a twist or two in the finale, but probably not in the final scene, or final image.
I can think of two possible endings –
1. Jack eyes open and he wakes up in the jungle like Episode #1, game continues
2. Jack eyes close and he dies, sacrificing himself somehow, game ends

I believe they will end with an eye closing. After that two eyes will open. They will be Carleton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. They will laugh and say Ha! you assholes we just wasted 6 years of your lives and you just made us millionaires!!!

When Smokey has killed everyone else, the ‘Island’ lifts and flies off into space.
Smokey is reunited with his smoking hot lost love and his crazy smoke mother, and they live happily ever after.
Chief – I like you’re Flashforward idea! Did you watch FF this week – I thought it was interesting that one of the character’s said, “It isn’t fate versus free-will; its fate AND free-will.”
Flashforward is getting better… it’s all Charlie’s doing.
Last scene of Lost… Jack and Sawyer on the beach… slow-motion high five!
Or maybe it’ll be Jack, cooking fish on a rock, talking to Vincent who is the new smoke monster…
Or maybe Jack and Sawyer on the beach having their “I want to kill you” conversation with Christian, Jacob and Charlie’s force ghosts watching from a little ways off, laughing…
highbrow – I agree about FlashForward; this was the first episode that really hooked me, because it was all centered around our “starts out rough and turns out to be a nice guy deep down” Charlie.
And I love the image of a slow-mo high five btwn Jack and Sawyer! And LMAO at the “force ghosts” laughing from afar!

vincent finally takes off his dog costume, and walks to his spaceship muttering the words ” i tried”….
