Good insights into the deaths or near deaths, highbrow. After watching Recon, I was reminded of Jack when watching Sawyer. They seem to be on an even keel in one respect. They've sussed out that Jacob and Flocke need them for something and that they are trying to manipulate them. But they've both managed to out-manoevre both Jacob and Flocke: Jack with his theory about not being able to die, and Sawyer with his uncanny way of seeing through Flocke. Sawyer's even managed to draw quite alot of truth and straight talking out of Flocke. They both seem to me to be maintaining their independence, and I don't think it will come down to them chosing sides. I think in the end they both want to get their people to a safe place; they both value the people they have been through all of this with. I don't think they care what happens to the island. Locke was the only one who cared about the island itself. So I agree with you when you mention that Locke may be the island itself or something along those lines.

There will be some sort of showdown between Jack and Sawyer. Sawyer blames Jack for Juliet's death and then of course there's Kate.

I doubt it... I think that will be the last scene of the series finale... All of the surviving Losties will be there in a life-or-death struggle against Evil Incarnate when suddenly Desmond shows up! Yay, Desmond! Jack shouts to Desmond with desperation in his voice, "Des! Use your power! Change the past!"

Desmond shrugs and says "huh?".

HA HA HA! It's not change, and here's the reason. The crash still happened! Just because we saw it not happen doesn't mean it didn't happen! That can only make sense on Lost. If it changed and then didn't happen then there wouldn't be any Losties on the island... but every Thursday for around half of the hour that Lost is on we see a bunch of Losties running around on the island...

I'm happy to have the chance to be right about this twice! And both times in the same timeline, too! Lucky me!

So I guess it begins again...

Regardless if there was another timeline created as part of the 'change'...we still see the plane crash happen...then not happen...
Which in my humble opinion, is a scene in which was shown to us once, and then shown to us again with different results...
Alternate/parallel/different/created timeline...regardless of which one is real...is change none the less to the original timeline and 'scene'...

And to anyone that believes that the Losties from one timeline will eventually merge with the other timelines selves...I would imagine that when they do merge...they will be changed as well...
