This is something that has been troubling me…
We think from Juliets final words ‘it worked’ it means that when the bomb went off in 1977, it meant the conditions that brought the Losties to the island changed? and this is supposedly what we are seeing in the parallell story each week that occurs off island. But we also see in 2004 the island underwater.
so what if Jack, or Locke, or anyone else for that matter were to leave the island? what would be there on the other side?
Any thoughts?

I was thinking that the writers might have a dramatic end for the losties on the island, leaving only their alternate selves alive, making it like they never crashed on the island….

I assume that the parallel on-island and off-island stories play out in different realities, i.e. two different worlds. The Losties on the island can go off island. They are not in the same world as the world where the Island has been sunk.
At least that’s what we’re led to believe. In the end the two worlds might of course turn out to just be different points in time in the same world.
