I think I agree with the Jacob committing a murder. I think he and his brother flee from this on a boat and somehow end up on the Island (where their past doesn't matter). Jacob is trying to atone for his sins and realizes the Island is special and his brother just wants to leave (like Jack and Locke through the first bunch of seasons). In order to stay on the Island himself, Jacob has to "trap" his brother (like Locke blowing up the submarine). But instead of that he somehow tricks his brother into becoming the smoke monster forever tied to the Island so they don't have to leave. They discover the secrets and the "rules" and have been there ever since. And here is where I totally agree with Pilouuu on Jacob proving his bro wrong. I think they also discover that they are not the first people that the Island has "captured" and they know they won't be the last...now I'm rambling..

When Jacob died, the healing pool lost its power.....but what if Jacob was once hurt really badly and he was tossed into the pool to heal him? We did see that ghost boy with his hands all bloody?

My point is that when Ben was taken to the healing pool we were told that he would always be different and be "one of them". I think that basically meant that he would always belong to the island and would defend the island. What if Jacob was healed in the pool and since then has been more concerned about whats best for the island and goes along with the plan to keep Smokey trapped than he is about being morally "squeaky clean." Kinda fits in with Ben's behavior since we saw him get shot.

Interesting pilouuuu. MIB's talk about his crazy mother made me forget that there was obviously a father. But what about him? All the best cowboys have daddy issues - I suppose your father being murdered by your brother (or friend) would be a pretty big issue. That could have easily drove mother crazy. Maybe the consequence of the murder was to force Jacob and MIB into this "game" - making MIB's assessement that if his mother hadn't gone crazy, things would be very different - very true indeed.

Very good theories there! Maybe... just maybe, the blonde boy is Jacob and he killed someone. Maybe they are brothers and Jacob killed their father and that's why the boy had the hands full of blood and that's why their mother got crazy.

Possibly Jacob feels regret for murdering and that why he decided to spend the rest of his life on the island. MIB lost someone he loved, in this case his father and feels anger and disappointment about all humanity for it. Jacob wants to repent for his acts and decided to show his brother that he can be good and that humanity is good too and he won't let him go until he proves his point and his brother forgives him.

MIB is not evil, but he can't stand his brother, that's why he wanted to kill Jacob so badly and he is also desperate after being stuck for more than one thousand years in the island.

I'm not sure as this is exactly what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised as something like that was true and neither Jacob nor MIB are completely good or evil.

What if Jacob is so stuck on proving that people are "good" - or better than the worst thing they do, they can change, blah blah.... because he himself if one of the those people that needs redemption. All of the main characters have killed someone, directly or indirectly (this was mentioned in the enhanced Ab Aeterno). Maybe Jacob killed someone around the time that he and the MIB become the beings they are now (however that might happen). Maybe he killed the creepy boy in the jungle.

Ilie, it's ironic, the things you believe about the Christian God, is similar to how MIB sees man:

1. People think they're good
2. People want other people to think they're good
3. Jacob claims they're good.

The show will have it's own answer..

I think Jacob is as good as the Christian God:

1. He thinks He is good.
2. He wants others to think He is good.
3. People claim that He is good.

But he really isn't.

(My opinion.)

he seemed to be weaving his plan well before MIB made it clear he wants to kill him which makes me think Jacob was scheming before MIB thought about finding a loophole which to me means: Adavantage Jacob.

I hope they have a jacob/mid episode, that will be the best one ever and that is saying a lot
