After season 1 it was suggested the island was purgatory. This was denied and evidently turned out that the island was a real place and they stole the purgatory idea for the FSW. Cool. What was the ash all about? What was the cabin all about? Who was in it? Why was Ilana shocked when it was burnt? Was the island the gateway to heaven and hell?
