Now we are left to speculate wether he died or if he destroyed the island and finally left. Otherwise, Desmond wouldn't be so adamant about finding the source again (if that is his goal in the first place). This definitely makes a lot of sense though. Personally, I'm hoping that the finale uses the bare minimum of special effects (because even in LOST the effects look kinda cheesy) and a convergence of the two universes would definitely take the cake from Smokey's really crappy exit from the tunnel of light. I think the light source being moved would make the most sense because the AT would not exist because life would cease to exist. Desmond is definitely more special than Jack at this point. If it was the other way around, I guess it would have been easy to imagine that AT is just the continuation of OT. Apparently it's not going to be that simple. You don’t know, do you?
