By virtue of the fact the debate about the series wrap up carries on is an indication of something. And that something is not a desirable something. It is either a desirable nothing or undesirable something. An abbreviated overview would most likely say bluntly – great series lousy ending.
It was one thing for Bob Newhart to end his series (during the 80s) by parodying other TV series that copped out on seasons and whole series by saying things like; the season was a dream, the series was all in the imagination of a mentally challenged young mind or aliens exist and are responsible for the building of the Pyramids, etc and it is another to do it seriously. Oh I get it now…they were trying to be funny too.
In a way these endings were better than Lost’s because although they fell short, they dealt with the issue(s). I couldn’t fully say that about Lost in terms of the mythology. On the other hand, I think it’s agreed they did considerably better with character resolutions. Maybe that’s where they pull up even with or surpass these past series endings, who knows.
Not to knock Lost’s writers (who I think did a stellar job through most of the series) but instead of doing comedy skids for Jimmi Kimmel about alt endings, writing about alt universes or sideway worlds they probably should have spent time tying up more loose ends. And, should have cared less about who (in the blogs) as theorized by many, might have guessed and often did for that matter, what was going to happen next. In any event their product was proven and many had said that they didn’t care about the audience anyway, Then I say; so go for what you think makes most sense. I don’t agree they didn’t care but I would say they had nothing to lose at that point because it was after all, the end.
Would it have been better if the island turned out to be an alien spacecraft instead of a?…just a minute, they didn’t explain that one either! Well, they sort of explained it. They related The Force in Star Wars to the Island. ie there is no explanation. You know, I’m beginning to like this stuff!
Acknowledgement : There was a welcomed post-ending short video just released that has addressed some of the previously unanswered questions. Approx date 10/8/6.

After scouring online, I found a link to the full 12 min epilogue video on a Spanish website. It answers many questions in a short period of time. A few things answered are…..
What happens to pregnant woman on the island.
Where the Hurley bird came from.
The food drops.
What happens with Walt.

I think Jack is still alive. Proof: I rewatched the finale the other night and I saw his eye open after it closed for a spilt second at the end of the last episode. After noticing this (I have it PVRed) I went back to the critical point and slowed it down to approx 1000 frames per second and you could see it reopen briefly (very) just before going the end Lost screen. Does anyone know if there are sites or whatever out there where I could get away with this kind of stuff? wolfx get a life? Agreed.
But seriously, wouldn’t one logically believe if Jack were lying out in the bamboo field (dead or alive), he would have been found by Hurley and Ben who would have brought his body back to the revival pool? Jack would regain his title as protector, provided Hurley didn’t want to keep the job..hmmm. Also supporting this argument would be Jack’s late arrival at the church at the end which would have been the case if he were the island protector. He could have theorically lived for centuries/millennia after the others. There’s the spinoff series! I have an original idea, the series should start with his eye closing in the very first scene.
Hopefully no one at the alt ending site or elsewhere had this one and if so, apologies.

As simple as the title reads. We all love and miss lost. And we all know not every question was answered. Lets create a definitive list of unanswered questions. I’ll start.
Who were the 3 wise men who created the chess game on the computer, and what was the relevance of telling us about them? Was it a religious theme(3 wise men) or was i an inside joke referring to damon, carleton, and JJ?

Just wanted to say, I saw the movie Inception Sunday night, and I was very impressed. I watched it with a bunch of my friends, alot of them being Lost fans. There’s a point in the movie where somebody’s father is in a coffin, flying from Sydney to LAX, and the son is also on the flight.. All of my Lost friends and I were like, that’s definitely a shout out to Lost!! It’s not pertinent to the plot, so why put something like that in there unless they did that on purpose to coincide with Lost?!

I miss lost i keep coming on here hoping for something new but its gone. i really wish they had of ended the show a little better, it was worth all the time.

1st I would like to say that for some reason the producers/writers/ and even possibly the actors punked out on the fans. They should be hung by the villagers carrying burning torches, just like they tried to do to Frankenstien.
As the remaining shows got closer and closer to the Finale, I was convinced that they would not do justice to the show the started 6 years ago. I just don’t understand why they would do that to us, the fans of the show.
This is for all the people still trying to figure out things that happen in the other five years. Stop, Stop right now! If anything you should be trying to figure out how your going to punish the producers. Like I said before, hanging would probably be a good idea. There are no answers to your questions. There never will be any more answers.
I think that there should be a law suit that would make it manditory that Hollywood be more responsible to the public. And refund the money I spent down-loading episodes to my computer. That my kids college fund.

I was just curious to see if anyone has seen, heard or read anything from Damon and Carlton since the finale.
I knew they were going into silence for a while, but they seemed to completely go off the radar. I don’t use twitter, does anyone know if they said anything interesting there? Maybe they’ve mysteriously disappeared like Osama Bin Laden.

Just to let you know that after recent feedback, I have created a forum-based site for you to talk about your favourite TV Shows. If I’ve missed any off please let me know.
Hope you enjoy x

A question I have about Lost and its endings; Why did it end? It was rich with all elements that make a show interesting. If it was ratings, then why does Star Trek endure (not to knock ST for I am a mild Trekie myself)? I believe Lost could have gone on for years entertaining us. Slowly creating more mystery, answering existing mysteries without giving the whole show away – eg MIB’s real name, introducing new characters and reintroducing old characters and so on. What’s 16 hours a year in a life when we’re being entertained?
TV shows often attempt to go out on good footing. Seinfeld, Cheers and MASH are good examples; however these shows had run the course. Lost appeared to be in its prime. Was the idea to kill it before it got old? There seemed to be so much more to explore whether it be science fiction, the mythology or the characters; People can grow even when they’re old.
I understand as it is argued, the answers to many of the mysteries were presented directly or indirectly. The ones that were answered directly ALWAYS created more mystery and the indirectly answered ones are obviously debatable. The argument to me, boils down to — was/is the production genius or bulls–t? A dichotomy..imagine that, the essence of the show! Even in summation the argument can lead to more conjecture.
We had a good thing here and now it’s gone; now time will be the ultimate judge as to whether the show was really that good. I think it will say it was, but there is always room for improvement,
There is a concept called synergy and in the TV program called Lost, I think the concept found an application. What’s wrong with thought provoking TV when it’s well presented, anyway? I say absolutely…..nothing!
The adventure continues…

This idea may be a little wild but I think I have figured out how many of the lost characters got their names. The first one is Daniel Faraday. I believe he was named after a man name Michael Faraday. Michael Faraday, FRS (22 September 1791 — 25 August 1867) was an English chemist and physicist (or natural philosopher, in the terminology of the time) who contributed to the fields of electromagnetism and electrochemistry. Daniel Faraday in lost was a genious and this man Michael Faraday studied electromagnetism which was the reason the Darma Inititaive came to the island. Another character John Locke I believe was named after the famous philosopher John Locke who was an English philosopher and physician regarded as one of the most influential of Enlightenment thinkers. This could possibly relate to how John Locke was a smart character in lost and always relayed his opinion on the certain situation and seemed to have a solution to all problems. Anyone found any more rlations between real world people and these fictional lost characters.

Following my theory titled : MIB was not the first Smokey…
In that theory I suggested that the story has happened over and over which is why we have been given Egyptian references to demonstrate that the story has been going for many many thousands of years.
It just came to me, the quote Jacob made – It always ends the same!
Was another clue from the writers.
Which I believe was a clue to answering why there were skeletons at the source! It always leads to someone having to replace the cork and save the world – thus each period in history, the story it always ends the same!

This is just a general question about whether or not I should create a site for another show now that Lost is over. Would anyone be interested if I did? What show would you like it to be about?
I know a few people mentioned that if I did a site for Fringe they’d be interested, and I love Fringe so I’d have no problem doing that, but I just wanted to get an idea of who might be interested etc.
Suggest any show… I may create a site that is a combination of shows. I just want to get an idea before I go ahead and do something 🙂
Also, Alternate Lost Endings has a few posts up now so be sure to check them out if you like Lost Fan Fiction.

Okay I am still wondering, do the numbers actually mean anything that anyone found. Or were they just a little trick to keep us interested because it sure kept me wondering but we never really found out. Any ideas?

here is a theory about walt…
i believe walt was a succesor to MIB…three people were called special…one was MIB as child who eventually became MIB..the other is John LOcke, who also became MIB, and lastly walt. all three were very curious.MIB wanted to find the source and the islands magical properties…John Locke, although he was a man of faith he was also curious and always trying to explore the islands magical mysteries. walt was also a very curious boy, he was running around with vincent, he wanted to follow LOcke all the time, he even learn how to throw knives and he was very good at backgammon even though he didnt learn the game until he crashed on the island…what a coincidence that locke tought him the game…and what a coinsidence that MIB as a child found a board game and knew the rules by instict..
besides that walt appeared to shannon , this led to her death. also he was typing to michael in the SWAN which led to the death of anna lucia and libby. in his flash back walt was reading about a bird and suddently a bird crashed on the window and died…moreover on the island walt was looking at the comic book a picture of a pollar bear and a pollar bear attacked the losties and died..
i believe the others knew about that ( maybe jacob informed them) and thats why they kidnap him so they can run tests (probably similar to the ones sayid had) to determine whether he was a hazaard for the island.. thats why i think they let walt and michael go so easily..they wanted him off the island so he couldnt become MIB

Does anybody know if there was something special about Vincent, or if he was significant?
I have watched the first episode after the finale, and noticed that when Jack is lying in the bamboo forest after the crash, Vincent finds him but soon runs off.
In the finale, before Jack dies, Vincent finds him and stays with him until he dies.
I was wondering if this was a direct relation to episode one and if it meant something. Last time Vincent ran off, and Jack was not about to die. But in the finale, when Jack was about to die Vincent didn’t run off.
Was there anything in Lost that showed Vincent was special or anything?

I wonder what the Lost spinoff series will be called, given there is one. The popularity of this show indicates there must be something that’s being considered. Wishful thinking, I dare not postulate for my prime time sanity is at stake. The show could include any or all of the characters possibly illustrated from different perspective. I think it would be delightful!
I REALLY NEED MY REGULAR FIX OF LOST OR SOME SUBSTITUTE THEREOF OR…. OK,OK I’ll watch most (OK all) of the commercials even if I record episodes and watch them later.

I have not posted for quite some time? First let me say it has been an interesting ride. My thanks to the host and all of the contributors who have put in a great deal of effort, thought and research.
While I hoped for most of the questions to be answered, I realized that 1/3rd of the way through season 6, there was no way it would happen? I have believed for a very long time, that when the show first began, they had NO idea how it was going to end? They may not have believed the show would have lasted as long as it did. I believed that they monitored sites such as this. I was convinced that there was a scientific explanation to a lot of the mysteries. As a scientist, I posted many theories on other sites about 4th dimensional beings and tried to use quantum physics to rationalize a great deal. I am somewhat disappointed that it was not explored further? I was disappointed with the ending at first but have come to grips with its meaning.
To Dabs , Ach, Highbrow and others who have contributed so greatly; I have thoroughly enjoyed the exchange.
Sleep well my fellow losties!!!!!!!!!!!!!
