but either way, Ben wrote the list, because he needed Jack (the spinal surgeon), Kate and Sawyer (to use as bait to ensure the surgeon did what Ben wanted) and Hurley, (to set free so he could return to camp and tell the other losties). We learned this from some episode, i can’t remember, but Ben explained it to Jack this way (i’ll do some research and try to figure out which episode…or maybe i’ll actually do work while at work….naw!) anyway, i dont’ think the list that Ben had with these 4 on it meant anything really.
well if you mean we know they dont die because they are on the island in 2004 thats wrong … because they would have had to be in 2004 to go back to 77 so your time travel concept is messed up.
referring to the list it is possible that ben remembers them from the DI in 77 and has a roster of people from the plane (we learn this when he sends ethan and that other guy into the losties camps in S3 i believe) SO maybe he wants to get them there because he notices the names and he knows he needs to keep them alive so they can go into the past and do something (im guessing this was that widmore is talking about) so maybe thats what were looking at … then again this is lost.
Much later in time, Ms. Klugh gave a list of four survivors to Michael. She threatened that if he didn’t return with those specific survivors (and no others), he would never see Walt again. The people on the list were:
Jack Shephard Kate Austen Hugo Reyes James Ford The group was ambushed at the capsule dump by the Others before reaching their settlement, and then taken by force to the Pala Ferry pier. Walt was released to Michael, and the two were given a boat and compass heading to leave the Island. Hurley was released and sent back to the survivors’ camp, and the other three were taken to the Hydra.
Jack was on the list because the Others needed him as a doctor for Ben, and Kate and Sawyer were included to persuade Jack to do the surgery.
Hurley was only on the list so he could be sent back with a message in “Live Together, Die Alone”. In the post-finale podcast, the producers confirmed that Hurley was on the list because the Others thought he was the best candidate to deliver the message.
This list seemed to be created for a specific purpose and seemed to be unrelated to the other lists mentioned.
IDK if this is as an important Question as, What happens if they stay in the time they are presently in (1977)-2004 will they be on the flight 815 also?…Remember that Charlotte wouldnt have been so eager to get back to the island if it wasnt for Daniel Faraday telling her as a lil girl “to never come back” while he traveled to the past B4 they ever got to 1977, Then she cant exist as two people when its set to only have one lil Charlotte in 1977…TIME LOOP PROOF
even thought at the time that list was created for the reason you explained from the episode expose … this is lost and somehow they start making connections with things that didnt seem that important at first and whatnot

hey lostie411, i think there is some valid thoughts to your post on the list. its not a coincidence by any means and the list and or lists were put together with certain knowledge. keep digging and i’m sure it will start to come together.
If this is the case why wasn’t Jin on the list? Minor detail but i’d have thought why leave him out? Not exactly fair is it lol. Oh yea and Sayid….the one person we know for a fact Ben met and learnt his real name yet he wasn’t bagged on the dock….hmmmmmm. Sorry theres just so many holes in the theory I find it hard to believe. I think it was a simple case of Ben needed surgery and thats how he knew to get Jack to do it. Im not sure about you but I always thought Ben was like CIA or something because of how much info he gets on people. Now I just reckon he had a gd chat with them in the past and knows everything about them that way.

We have to remember that the events that are happening in 1977 are, from the point of view of the Losties, happening AFTER the events in 2004.
So, if one of our Losties were to die in 1977, they’d still be on Flight 815 in 2004 because this happened BEFORE they died.
