I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my biiiiiike….
Ok, this is just trivia, but look at the following images which are part of Lost “underworld” or fan folklore.
In several orientation videos, shots of the Dharma village show a blonde chap on a bicycle. One is as an upside down image, the other as a backdrop to the Dharma welcome video:

Now surely it is important and a critical clue, if not why bother going through the recording of an artist, dressing up, giving him a bike and including it in two elements of the series at different times?
I believe that the guy on the bicycle is Aaron/Jacob (who I believe to be the same person). Ok we know he is central, but perhaps it suggest we must analyse his role even further to truly undertsand and theorise where we are headed.
Reasons bike guy could be jacob:
- Jacob always dresses in light and uncomplicated clothes eg plain light shirt, plain light trousers
- Jacob sports a short back and sides haircut, slightly longer on top
- Jacob is a simple, down to earth to type. He would ride a bicycle, not a car or motorbyke (not that you would in a village anyway I know) But fits his green, humble style.
There is also a woman in the background dealing with her laundry. Don’t you think the picture is just trying to show people doing ordinary things?
Its true, it could be over-reading/over-complicating the situation. but the same image of this is shown in two videos on separate occassions (orchid orientation in a subversive hidden context) and then again in a less subversive context as part of the barracks video (the more ordinary one as you rightly suggest).
The writers are always giving us clues via books and other info (which is part of Lost’s appeal) as they have stated recently, so just thought this could be one. But what it means – Im stuped and not sure. Thats the annoying thing, we still need some more info. WHat info we get eg Richard, black rock etc just confirms peripheral characters but not the GREAT unfolding. Fair enough as we are not far enough into the series
Rest assured that they’ll keep some surprises for us till the season finale. 😉
I like the energy in your theory but I think it’s looking too hard for something that’s not really there. After all, the plain clothes thing is true of all DHARMA folk who wear the issued bodysuit.
After Eggtown aired there were similar theories out there making connections to the picture that you posted with the bicycle painting in Aaron’s bedroom.

Think about it.
John Locke as a kid was visited by Richard. Richard freaks at looking at drawing/painting on the wall which is of smokie. It foresaw Locke’s future.
Maybe this is foreshadowing again by the writers, set production team.
Ok ite depends on two of my theories:
1. Aaron is Jacob, Jacob is Aaron
2. The boy on the bicycle is Jacob
These two theory streams seem to converge quite nicely.
Of course, we must wait and see.
So its a shame in a way that others have mentioned it before, so mine is not original, but nice to see i was not isolated in my thoughts.

elsewhere, on that link you provided, what’s going on with that picture of the bicycle? It has an extremely bizarre card on it, like a six of spades towards the bottom. What the hell is that all about?
Chief: I think the card was implying that Aaron is the 6th member of the Oceanic 6. But that’s all I got. 🙂

I was just looking at the bicycle painting again. I didn’t notice it before, but it looks like it was painted as seen inside of a mirror. Notice the rims within the painting? And the card below is on the outside of the rim/mirror. hmmm… Or am I seeing things?
Someone posted a theory recently (I’m sorry, I’m not 100% sure who) about the island being like the centre of a bicycle wheel and the spokes being all the different timelines that it jumps to. That could be why the bicycle imagery keeps cropping up.
