What about this…
How is everyone doing? I’ve been thinking about this one for a while now, I just haven’t wanted to take the time to try and write it out because inevitably I will forget something I wanted to point out. And maybe this idea or some like it have been posted before, if so, I apologize.
Go ahead and laugh. I started making my way through the episodes again. I started with season 2 this time. My first time through, this is where I kind of got lost. Who are The Others? Desmond, Penny, Michael, what the hell?
Anyways, I’ve always been a big proponent of that we are seeing cycles, repetitive situations, people, characteristics. I know I ‘ve mentioned that before, some of you may be sick of it. I think that Desmond and Sayid are similar, and that Ilana and Kate, or Danielle and Claire. I just think they are diffeent versions or maybe reincarnations of one another. Locke and Eko maybe as well.
Now on to the button…
Metaphorically, I think the button represents faith. Either press it or don’t. You either take someone’s word for it that you are saving the world or you don’t believe them and don’t press it. I think it is this struggle that we are supposed to debate. And back to the cycles thing, I think this struggle is what has been fought over on the island this entire time. Among other things. But this is the battle referred to I think when MIB and Jacob are on the beach and the line about “they come, they fight, they destroy…”
The battle of faith between pressing the button, harnessing the light and water, trying to leave, etc.
And as far as the characters go, we were told they were brought there for a reason right?
I wonder if they were all brought there each one for their own singular reason. I just finished up the episodes where Michael basically screws everyone to save Walt. I’m thinking that maybe that is Michael’s “curse.”
That Michael will choose being with his son over everything else in the world. And that is why he was brought to the island. And it was proven that he would choose Walt over most things. And since he failed this test during his time on the island, this was why when he wwent back to the city, that one guy told him the island wasn’t through with him yet.
These are some of my thoughts on the tests the Losties had to face and why they were brought there.
Jack – always has to save or rescue.
Kate – has to either steal or run.
Sawyer – to con.
Sayid – will always sacrifice to save a woman.
Desmond – same as Sayid
Charlie – drugs/temptation/willpower
Michael – will always choose Walt
Any others?
I’m thinking in order for them to be finished with the island they need to come to terms with their one weakness.
And then others, maybe like Locke and Rose, were supposed to be there. They had no weakness or whatever to rectify so their business was finished. This is why the island healed them.
Let me know your thoughts.
And see, I already thought of something else that was supposed to be in there.
The cycles –
the hatch and pressing or not pressing, when DI was drilling and Radzinsky wanted to keep going and the other guy wanted to stop, MIB trying to harness the power of the water and the light.
Or Ben setting up camp in the DI barracks, or DI being there in the first place, and the temple we saw at the end.
It’s just cycles man.
What I like about this topic is everyone you mentioned, Apostle, passed the test, dont you think? Some took longer than others. Even people like Ben.
Must be a statement on the human spirit or somethin’ I’d say.
Still waiting for Lost – Volumn II
Nothing to do with this thread or Lost but great season finale for TWD S3.
hey wolfx! glad you’re still checking in no matter the reason 🙂 I still miss Lost!!!!!!!!
A lost connection…Bates Motel.
How do you folks like the series thus far?
There’s a new Zombie series. Its called In the Flesh. Its on the Space Channel Saturday night. I haven’t seen it yet (started last week) but it reads interesting!
hey Wolfx! I don’t think I’m up for anything else with zombies.. I’ve got to start watching Bates motel, all the Lost fans say it’s a great show! The show I’m looking forward to next is CBS’s under the dome! http://www.cbs.com/shows/under-the-dome/
Wow man, May 23rd again..has it really been 3 years since The End?! Still hoping for a show that will give me the same fix!
Bob – I am addicted to Bates Motel too..that B***** Mr. Cuse…ha..ha.
NTW…Lost will be back in approx 7 years or less according to the calculations.
Still got a theory on..what was it called again?..oh yes ..The Incident, to post once I find it.

Its hard being a Lost groupie sometimes 🙂
Doesn’t anyone care about one of the best TV shows of all time anymore?
Comments are welcome (if I may, Admin) 🙂
I still care. How are you?
I am about to finish season 4 up again. I just figured almost everyone else has moved on.
I have always been intrigued by the symmetry of some of the scenes. For example, it seems like at times things are peaceful between say Jack & Kate but then Juliet will appear, come back from some trek, or Kate returns. It’s like the addition of another woman into that balance or equation throws it off. It seemed when that symmetry was thrown off in some scenes is when bad stuff happened.
The Apostle.. I’ve never been better and how are you?
While we wait for the return of Lost, I am watching (as I speak) yes..yes. a TWD rerun marathon episode. The 2nd best TV series ever. Great times…no better way to fill time between great TV series.
Keep this site going (a marathon in itself)and we well eventually be rewarded. Mind over matter..ha..ha.
Take care The Apostle.
I am okay, about to get off of work. TWD is The Walking Dead? Have not seen it. I have never been one for movie channels and I cut the cable cord at the start of 2012. If it ain’t on Hulu, I ain’t seeing it probably.
I am thinking they will bring it back. It would be awesome if they somehow tied in the shows that either the producers had a hand in making or that were related. Lost would be the center hub but they could tie in Flashforward, maybe Alcatraz, Revolution…
Could they bring back Lost though? Would it have the same impact or would people lie us be searching for deeper meanings when they may not be there?
And what’s with the take care? Are you going somewhere permanently? Is this site yours? I have never been close to the admin like some of you, I thought it was Emzi maybe?
The Apostle, what is “Revolution”?
Jack (Fox) is currently busy with stuff like World War Z etc.. so we’ll need to wait a little for the grand return of Lost, I would guess.
Meanwhile, I believe Admin is a lady, her avatar/handle is Emzi. I don’t know more. I just hope she keeps this site going until.
PS I liked Alcatraz too 🙂
Revolution is that show on NBC that debuted this year. Juliet is in it, she is not the main character but one of them perhaps.
It’s set in the future with flashbacks for explanation but basically someone developed a means to consume all electrical energy maybe so the world has been without power for 15 years.
I wouldn’t say it is related to Lost or even close but there are some aspects that smell of it. For example, this guy, Aaron, I believe they want us to think he “invented” the google, or the algorithms behind it. And then later on in the series, Juliet hands off this book of scientific notes during a struggle about whether or not to restore power to the world. If they use this notebook, they could do it. Well in the notebook is a newspaper clipping about this Aaron dude from Google, and the notebook implies that he will be the one to do it. So it leaves the viewer wondering, who wrote that book? How did they know Aaron was going to be a friend of the person who owned it, how could they have known that Aaron would be involved, etc.
I like the show because I wish the power would go out. Just kidding but not really.
Oh yeah, tie in Fringe too. That show was pretty good.
Will look for the series (Revolution). Waiting for Breaking Bad on Netflix lately although I could download S4.
The Killing (The Crime) is also pretty good.
and of course waiting for Bates Motel return.
Anyone see series Under The Dome?
I have not seen Under the Dome yet. I wanted to but missed the beginning. I was a late starter to Lost though so if I get the itch to watch it, I’ll find it.
I have never seen Breaking Bad either. Hulu has had slim pickings lately, I am back up to S6.
How have you, or anyone else, been?
Hey guys! It’s nice to see there’s still some activity here 🙂 I don’t check in much so miss some of the conversation, but just want you to know I have no plans of shutting the site down! It’ll still be here when Lost 2.0 hits our screens 😉
I saw the first few episodes of Revolution but got bored… is it something you have to watch at least a few more of to get into it?
The Walking Dead is one of my faves at the moment, as is Breaking Bad! I highly recommend both these shows! 🙂
Emzi! Great to see you checking back in! (great profile pic by the way!) As you can see, only a few of us hardcore fans still commenting.. So glad you’re keeping the site up! I check in every several days or so to read random theories or old comment threads, it really takes me back to the glory days of Lost.. I refuse to let go! Still writing my Lost fanfiction too..
So in reference to your comments to other shows; I too got way bored with Revolution.. The acting was horrible, almost laughable.. One of my friends watching says it’s gotten so much better, but I’ve given up on it. I watched the first season of Walking Dead; incredible show! just never continued.. Breaking Bad I started fresh a couple months ago, really good show.. Planning on watching final season once I’m done with all the episodes prior, I’m still in Season 3..
Nothing has replaced my hunger or fascination with Lost.. The only show that came close to replacing it was The River, but as you probably agree, some of the episodes were horrible and I believe sunk that show.. I’m watching Under The Dome; absolutely horrible! I’m still watching just to see what happens..Zero Hour was horrible too! Still looking for that Lost fix, I hope to get a couple friends to rewatch it with me soon.. take care!
Emzi – good to “see” you. Lost 2.0…good ref.
I wanted to ask if you liked Bates Motel? The connection to Lost being of course, Cuse.
I find the series quite amusing. Not sure where it will go but it sure beats 90 percent of other TV series as it stands IMO. Funny, the only paranormal element to the series is marijuana…ha..ha.
I hope the Walking Dead ends simultaneously with the Lost 2.0 kick off.
My name is wolfx. I am a TV addict 🙂
What is going on you two? Or three…
Because of this site, I have read a few books and watched a few recommended movies. Movies like Primer, The Stand. And books like Atlas Shrugged, The Little Prince, and maybe 1984?
Just 2 nights ago, I pulled The Time Machine off the shelf and dusted it off. I was supposed to read it way back in middle school in the 80’s but never did. I only just started it but a line or two from the opening paragraphs caught my eye. I wanted to share them below and see what your thoughts are.
First, what was your favorite “aspect” of Lost? One of the main ones up there for me was the idea of time travel, or the loops, or the different timelines. Whatever you want to call them. The idea of it still intrigues me. If the time thing didn’t get your loins excited, this quote might not mean anything to you ha ha.
For contextual purposes, I believe the time traveller is trying to convince other people that without time, nothing really exists.
He asks a question of them “can a cube that does not last for any time at all, have a real existence?”
He goes on “Clearly, any real body must have extension in 4 directions: length, breadth, thickness, and DURATION.”
“There are really 4 dimensions, 3 of which we call the 3 planes of space, and a 4th, time. There is, however, a tendency to draw an unreal distinction between the former 3 dimensions and the latter, because it happens that our consciousness moves intermittently in one direction along the latter from the beginning to the end of our lives.”
I do not quite understand that last sentence… Anyone care to enlighten me?
cont’d:
“Really this is what is meant by the 4th dimension. It is only another way of looking at time.”
And the biggie:
“There is no difference between time and any of the other 3 dimensions of space excpet that our consciousness moves along it.”
Trippy stuff right? He wrote this in 1895. What do you guys think about it? Does it clear anything up for you? Or does it muddy things further?
And it didn’t catch my eye. It caught both eyes. I have two eyes.
The Apostle – Fab stuff… watching the movie Skyfall on TV, where else. James Bond was/is Scottish. I always thought he was from London. London, Scotland sounds off to me though what do you think?
We were watching Under The Dome last night but fell asleep before the end. Did anyone see the episode? it was the season finale.
The series is in the vein of Lost in the respect of grand paranormal mystery. It is not as intriguing as Lost but given a chance it may improve.
So…what’s wrong with aliens being behind the mystery? I still think the Island was an alien spaceship. Hold on…I live on an island. is this where life imitates art?
BTW where is the rest of our blog family of late. If you folks wish to comment, I promise to shut up 🙂
You didn’t comment…Anyone see the opener for series Sleepy Hollow? There is something to be said (and I’m saying it) about Paul Revere garbed guys with English accents and headless guys from the 18th century who know how to use pump action shotguns really well.
Anyone looking forward to TWD tonite (out west), soon otherwise?
Sooooo…..is Lost back yet? How about Bates Motel?
I believe the latter will be in 2014. Keeping our hopes alive for the former.
The opinion on American Horror Story is it is heating up. We have enjoyed the holiday marathon. To speak of which…Happy New Year 2014 to all.
Yes, crazy wolfx with another entry. A Lost connection. Check it out… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_(TV_series)
The old people are not pleased about the news that we wont be by much any more but we’ll be by next week..for…sure 🙁
I think they like the the not sure if there is any serious content during discussions. They will catch on in short order, however memorable acts such as these will become hallowed in time.
All to say that we like the TV series HELIX thus far, how about you folks?
The Apostle, Yeahhhh…Bates Motel is back.
Are u watching the series Helix. I really like it too.
The Walking Dead (to mention) has become (for me) so intense that it zaps any remaining energy left if watched at night. Great show!
So there, my entry for the month 🙂
