A Riddle: It’s black, hard and 8 inches long…

It also telescopes out to about 24 inches and is used to beat Sawyer to a pulp at the begining of season three…

Who does it belong to, and where else do we see it?

  1. I like the “who does it belong to” part of this question, because as we’ve seen Ben with it, it’s similar to Richard asking young-Locke what objects are his…

    I will be curious if it in fact is what is next to Jack in the opening scene of the Pilot. I wonder how I would feel if the very last scene of the series will be the very first scene…I really hope they don’t do that to us.

  2. kimberly: I’m not sure if you have played or heard about the LOST video game, but

    ~~~~~~~~~~SPOILER ALERT~~~~~~~~~~
    the end of the video game is the same as the very beginning of it. So I strongly doubt the show will end the same way.
  3. I do believe the very first scene will be the last scene as well. Jack will have travelled back to that moment to relive it all. It is a very similar scene to the one where Ben travels into the future after moving the island….he is also seen flat on his back in the desert just like Jack in the jungle. Notice jack is wearing a suit …is it the same suit he is wearing now while trying to get back to the island?
  4. lostfan – I just do not see why the creators of the show would
    A) end the show the same way the video game – released years before the end of the show – will.
    and B) allow the makers of the video game to use the ending of their show.
    It seems ridiculous to think that this could be the case. I would feel cheated.
    “Do you want to spend 5 years watching this new show and thinking up theories about the ending”
    “Naw, I’ll just beat the video game version in 30 minutes and find the ending out for myself”
    Come on!
  5. Cappayne- I never actually knew about the video game so I wasn’t connecting anything there. Yes I think it would be silly to have the same ending for both. If they are created by the same people.
    I would have to see the ending to the game to comment further.
    But I do think there are striking details between the two scenes and I have to wonder why.
  6. I asked the question (for fun) because I first theorized that the black thing in Ben’s hand in the desert scene (when he wakes up) might be a sort of button switch that could call him ‘back’ to the island teleportation chamber or something like that.
    I figured that Ben had some other means of travel other than the submarine. Something quicker like a teleportation booth (like the one in ‘The Fly’) You get in and it pushes you to wherever you want to go off the island. But how do you get back? You have a sort of switch that activates the teleporter and brings you back.
    Alas I seam to have been waching too many Star Trek re-runs. Ben is just holding an extending Policeman’s stick. His weapon of choice apparently.
