The Life & Death…A follow up discussion

Yet another episode, where the hour flies by and it’s completely engrossing. In the first 20 minutes I said, “I just want to appreciate this, rather than be dissecting it for clues…” and then it just wouldn’t stop, there were things happening all over the place that it was impossible not to think more on them.

So here are my two cents…

– The “Atomic Fireball” reference? Did anyone catch a screen shot of what magazine Cesar found in that first scene in the Dharma station…prior to him finding the sketchings that looked very familiar to what Daniel has in his journal? This made me think of Dabs conversation about what the catastrophic event that either has or will happen that the Losties are involved in.

  1. – I agree that Ben doesn’t have a clue as to Jack’s connection to the island. I don’t think he’s every had the pleasure of meeting Christian and if he knew I think he’d have killed Jack by now.

I don’t think that Ben talked John off the table just so he could get information from him then kill him himself. He really didn’t get any information from John. He just got the name Eloise Hawking which doesn’t mean anything unless Ben already knows who she is. If he knows who she is then he should know that John will need her in order to get back to the island.

I think Ben knows all about the Lamp Post station. I think they would have needed to know about it in order to travel back and forth from the island (as we know some of the Others had been doing). And he definitely seemed to know who Eloise was based on his reaction to hearing her name and the fact that he didn’t need an address to be able to find her.

    – Yeah, Ben didn’t flash out with the rest of the O5. The question now is WHEN are Ben, John and the other survivors of the crash? Seems to me they’re in the future (sometime post-Dharma). They’re at the Hydra station and there are no DI people around…

    – The think about Christian telling John to say hello to his son, to me, was confirmation that it really is Christian Shephard on the island and not just Jacob or whatever other power is at work on the island assuming his form…

  2. I like what Highbrow’s last paragraph said, I feel the same way. It just seems that Jacob and Christian were saying things to Locke in that scene.

Jacob – You came to see me in my cabin
Christian – Say hi to my son for me

  3. kimberly, a very nice wrap-up of events.

Locke not telling Ben about the information regarding Christian Sheppard was huge! A major coupe for Locke!

I am convinced that Ben is completely unaware of the ‘other powers’ that be on ‘the island’. If he knew about this, he would do everything in his power to destroy it, any way he could.

  4. Nice post. Richard has likely traveled in time himself and could be from the future or past. The fact that he doesn’t age can be explained exactly how Widmore explained to John that he looked exactly the same 50 years ago. It’s a difficult thought process to consider for me, but if we were watching the show from Richard’s perspective instead of the losties, maybe it would make more sense. One thing for sure, it’s possible that those that go back in time (as we see with Lock, Sawyer, etc), do no age or get younger. They appear in the physical exactly as they were before they started to move in time.
