The Dharma logo is very special indeed. Its shape in the context of religion represents the 8th day of creation, with means – RENEWAL
A book by Horace Freeland Judson titled: The Eighth Day of Creation: Makers of the Revolution in Biology a book about the discovery of the structures of cellular macromolecules – basically molecular biology.
Human social behaviour is under genetic control.
The 8th day of creation in biblical terms didn’t happen, as God stopped on the 7th, the 8th symbolises man’s attempt of creation.
Some preachers have said that Resurrection Day was the 8th day creation. From that point on, God recreates through the salvation experience.
Salvation is given to people who are LOST. LOST is simply a combination of everything we have talked about. Man’s strive for extending science, the boundaries.
Jacob is an angel, his nemesis is a demon.
When man oversteps the mark God’s creation is in danger. Jacob is here to ensure that man never reaches that stage, his nemesis wants man to bridge the gap. For past, present or future needn’t exist and humans will exist in a new plane, new dimension and the need to depend or worship and all powerful being is eradicated.
Man will always strive to bridge the gap, but deep down man has to undersand that certai things are not meant for man. Time travel, dna manipulation etc
The second you alter your past, you have no future!!!!
Salvation will come from destroying time travel. choosing to live a life of a simple human existance, which is tough as we all go through the crap and the past can be a hurtful place.
Remember Jack and Sayers fight over the bomb.
Jack thinks salvation comes from changing his past; remember that guy when Sawyer had the flashback; he said leave it in the past. He gave Sawyer the chance of salvation, the ability to not end up lost, but its hard as you can hang onto the past, let it shape your future and ulimately destroy your life. We all have pasts, we all go through different things and it is very tempting to go, I wish I had the power to change that, if only I had the power.
But do we really know what we are doing if we had that power. Understanding life is a journey and what will make us LOST from that journey all together is if we start to manipulate it.
Even though that guy gave Sawyer that advice seemed harsh, he in fact was trying to save Sawyer’s future.
The island is the battle ground for man, humanity.
Humanity is at stake, not the individuals.
It’s a test.
Would you change your past, travel back or would you accept life, the bad, move on and just have faith till the end.
Ben took orders from a guy who he has never seen. Faith. What do millions of religious people do everyday, believe in things they have not seen with their own eyes.
In a test for humanity, God has to be fair. Remember the devil can take any shape or form to trick us, even of Jesus itself, it was written in the Christian bible.
Remember bible stories of people having visions, experiencing miracles etc
There are laws that govern the test of humanity on that island, boundaries etc
When man gets so close and the pwers that be test God, God test us to prove them wrong.
Like Job in the bible; God has faith in all those on the island; even Ben.
The nemesis could not kill Jacob as their are rules, like in the test of Job in the bible the devil was not allowed to kill him, but could afflict him in many different ways.

Excellent read and a very interesting theory with a lot of potential, I am not sold on every aspect but some elements certainly ring true to me and fall along the same lines as my own theories.
I fully understand the logo bit,but as soon as you started talking about jacob you “LOST”me.Jacob “talents” will become more apparent in the final season,and there will be a simple down to earth explanation. I’ve no doubts about that!

It certainly is something we should all consider, because there is no doubt, this all plays into the storyline, in terms of the ‘big picture’, and what it will all come down to.
I feel that these are the type of things, that the viewers will be questioning when the final season airs!

I would just like to respond to naterulz and I hope otherscan see the beauty of Lost. Naterulz in the story of Job in the bible, God allowed Jacobs kids and wife to die. Jacob could have saved Sayids wife yes. But you are stuck on this whole thing. I have not contradicted myself I belive Jacob is a good angel. You maybe at a stage in life I could be right or wrong, but its a case of why does God let children die. Why do good people go through stuff. A test is a test. Jacob did not want Sayid’s wife to die but the rules where he had to let her die and Christians, any memeber of any religion has to deal with why does good things happen to good people. In the story of Job everybody told
#job to turn his back on God for all that God had allowed to happen to him.
I believe that if people like Jack can make the right decisions they will end up with more they can dream of, even to the fact when they die they will become somebody like Jacob.
My hunch is Ben will save the day, for all that he has been through, for all we think he is Jacob has faith in him and for all his wrong he will make the biggest sacrifice and understand why he did all these things without even seeing Jacob.
Its one word my friend and its called FAITH.
My friend maybe if some kid didn’t die maybe their parents wouldn’t be depressed and break up and yes these things are shit and they happen.
How you deal with the shit is up to you.
Humanity is being tested on that island.
Now how much you want to change the past the biggest and bravest thing you can do is accept it and not let it change the future.
Yes Jacob could have saved Sayed’s wife, yes probably God can stop millions of kids dying from disease, but does that make them wrong or is it a case of we have to deal with these things in our own way, like they are doing on the island.
Pain, loss, hope, happiness, anger, faith, despair, courage, fear.
I would like to say that I wish x,y, z didn’t happen in life like probably anybody on this site, it takes looking at the bigger picture and going through all those emotions to arrive at the answer.

Also even if God gave us that pen to write our own doom, it is us that put pens to paper. Free will is free will.
Faith is no matter what you go through, the pain the misery you still BELIEVE.
That is why its the most powerful thing. Remember the couple on the island, the old couple, their faith and love is so strong it doesn’t matter what they go through, they keep the faith, that is why they couldn’t understand this back and forth thing, go to the island, change the past, chaneg the future.
The past is the past, we can’t change the past. Its what shapes us and helps us understand life. sometimes its brutal, sometimes is good, but its part of life.
One day, like the old couple, people just go you know what, the past is the past, life is life and look at the good in their lives, not the bad.
When you get to that stage nothing can harm you, you are free from the effects of life. The island can’t do anything to them, the island can’t touch them, even if they die, get blown to millions of pieces the island could not break their love or faith.
So who one? Them or the island? Who wrong humanity or the powers that break humanity.
Everybody on that island will have to make a final choice. Just going back to naterulz this is no lecture, I’m not even saying I’m a person of faith but I understand what faith is. Jacob let Sayed’s wife die.
Maybe Sayed’s wife was supposed to die. Maybe Jacob really had no choice; maybe it pained Jacob that he had to watch Sayed’s wife die. Like he said everything is going to be ok. Maybe it is rather than maybe it aint.

I would like to thank everybody who has left a comment on this post. Everybody has opened my eyes to not the programme but to everyday life, especially naterulz and the Jacob thing.
It has been probably the most worthwhile thing I have posted on the internet. With such a mixture of people it is like we are on our own island, each with our different views how we see and understand things.
I hope the final season make people think about their lives. What they can do to change their lives and teach people the lessons of the past.
Sometimes we all feel if only and if this didn’t happen, but I always have a sneaky feeling that maybe, just maybe, I’m not saying it in all cases, but just maybe there is always more to the doom and gloom.
Their lives no matter what happens are in their hands.

From my recent theories, you can see I assumed the same of Jacob…pardon a little copy&paste, but I posted a recent comment on another great theory that fits here perfect, and well…lol, I dont want to screw it up…

I love your theory and I am amazed by your interpretation of the dharma logo and the meaning of the word LOST. I just have one problem with the part that says: Would you change your past, travel back or would you accept life, the bad, move on and just have faith till the end. They don’t get to choose weather or not they want to stay in the present or travel through time.
I’m not done with season five yet so maybe that changes but i know for example in episode one of season five everyone on the island travels to the same time periods at the same time. They don’t get a choice. It’s not like Sawyer can go back in time while Rose stands next to him and says “i think i’ll stay in the present because i accept my past.”
I don’t know….. those are just my thoughts. Like i said, i’m not done with season five yet. But great theory!
