Continuity Error in LaFleur??

I noticed something that appears strange to me. In “LaFleur” after the 2nd To Last Flash, they are sent To Ancient Times, and they see the 4 toed Statue, In full. They are standing at the Orchid when they See this. Mabye I’m Wrong, but Wasn’t the orchid in the middle of the Forest, and the 4 Toed Satue Far far Away from it?

Here is a Link for the Picture.

  1. Geography in Lost may not always make sense. They are using Hawaii as a stand-in for locations and fixing things and cheating with special effects.

Unless (as I speculated elsewhere there are more than one statues on the island for different gods. When they show us the interior of the temple we may see alcoves and shrines to dozens of old Egyptian and unknown gods. There may even be one there depicting Ben Linus and another of Locke.

  2. The simplest answer would be that in ancient times the people kept the trees cut back to see the statue and in modern times the trees have grown back… and of course, it would be hard to see just the foot of the statue from the jungle. Visually, it’s not easy to know how close you are to the ocean when you are in a deep jungle. Without audible clues like waves, which are quickly muffled by trees, it’s impossible to know just how close you are to the beach until you are basically there. This is something that I’m quite sure the crew has taken advantage of in filming more than once… filming things supposedly near the beach far from it and vice versa.

  3. I noticed that in another episode. In Jughead, when John was talking to Richard, Sawyer, Juliet, and Daniel were in the jungkw, and Charolette wasin the camp near John. The flash occured and next thing you knowm they are almost on next to one another,
Good catch, not sure if it has true signifigance or not though.

  4. I think the answer lies in the size of the statue. It looks like a normal size statue thats not that far away. Where in actual fact if we go by the comparison of the size of the foot the statue is massive. Therefore it is actually further away then we think.

  5. well, the statues is supposed to be enormous, easily visible from almost anywhere on the island. and if its in the past, perhaps some of the trees havent grown yet. forests rise and fall over time
