Vincent in Season 6

He’s the second character we meet.
(Deleted scene reveals Christian sends him to wake up Jack thus beginning the show.)
He goes missing and turns up again leading characters into situations important to their “character”.
He survived the time flashing chaos.
He’s on the S6 promo poster.
Lindelof confirmed that he is the only character that will for sure survive through the end of S6.

Just a dog? Or something more?

I'm female, 28, a musician who plays a white ukulele and a black guitar, and I'm a fraternal twin. I have a fondness for tropical islands and wondering what's across the sea. Unlike the MIB - I've left home, many times, and concur with the Beach Boys that the cutest girls in the world are indeed housed in the United States (of Elizabeth Mitchell).

  1. I totally agree, he us something more special than a dog.
I think he is either Jacob’s way of navigating around the island much like the black smoke could be MiB’s way of moving around. or he could possibly be Jacobs dog, long shot but it would be great. A good scene to show this is in the pilot when the losties go into the jungle and the camera pans out and Vincent is watching them very closely.

  2. So perhaps it is Vincent/Jacob that puts Rose and Bernard in the cave together with the stones?

I’ve never seen it before but I found it now:

One of the comments there suggests that this scene might be the final scene of the series. It seems quite fitting considering that Christian says “you have work to do”.

  3. ScrollLocke WATCHING LOST WHEN YOU’RE TRAVELLING IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHEN YOU’RE AT HOME. I WAS DOING THE OZ 1-YEAR THING FOR SEASON 3. IF YOU’RE IN CAIRNS AT ALL WHILST AN EPSIODE IS ON POP INTO THE COURTHOUSE NEAR THE ESPLANADE AND THEY SHOW ALL TV SERIES’ EVERY NIGHT DURING THE WEEK. THERE’S A ROOM JUST INTO THE LEFT AS YOU GO IN AND THEY HAVE A 50-INCH TV (WHICH WAS ALL MINE FOR THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS FINALE), BE EARLY IN CASE THERE’S AUSSIE RULES ON THOUGH 🙂

  4. Banlinus: Nice thought about Vincent being Jacob’s dog. We don’t know where Walt’s mom met Brian, who then left Vincent to Walt after she died. Maybe they met on the island and somehow Brian ended up meeting and leaving with Vincent.

In “Jacobs” cabin there is a painting of a dog that clearly isn’t a yellow lab but if Jacob really did occupy it at some point maybe it was one of his many dogs over the many years he seems to have been on the island.

Remember that story Locke told about the mysterious yellow lab showing up after his sister died? Great story. I know the story was for Sawyer and his boar but I always wondered if the fact it was a yellow lab was relevant to Vincent and his role in the big picture.

  5. Maybe Jacob has the ability to shape shift and chooses the form of a well-liked, watchful and protective dog much like Sam Merlotte (for those LOST fans who are also TRUEBLOOD fans). It makes for an interesting thought that Jacob as Vincent could move about the Losties and listen and observe.

  6. Yeah i agree lostonlongisland, i truly believe he is closely linked with Jacob.
Im sure i remeber reading in the Bad Twin book about a mythical loyal dog that sat and waited for his owner. Maybe this was a brief reference to Vincent.

  7. this is all just my thoughts
but what if Vincent is more like God than Jacob? i dont think that jacob would need to roam and observe (in my opinion). it feels to me that there would be no point in Jacob and ‘MIB’ arguing for however long in time they have been about mortal kind, and who is right or wrong if it wasnt for something. what is the point? surely they must be doing it for a higher power? either for the black smoke, Vincent or something/ someone else we havent seen or have had mentioned yet. these are just my thoughts.
