Turning it all around
What if the Temple is the home of MIB/Smokie? The cavern where it sort of lives is there and it protects it. We’re being led to believe that he is one the way there and wants to enter it to destroy everyone/everything. But what if his statement “I want to go home” refers to him returning to the temple? This would start to make some sense in that Jacob may not have been able to enter the Temple and needed Sayid’s body to be able to enter him instead. Let me back up. The water wasn’t clear meaning that something had changed. I originally thought that it became cloudy when Jacob was killed (cloudy water symbolic of his blood loss) but now I think it may relate to MIB instead of Jacob. The cloudy water being symbolic of the blood on his hands. There is a relationship between Smokie and water as we’ve already seen. When Ben wants to summon him he opens a drain in a pool allowing the water to leave which either summons Smokie or allows him to enter the space.
Suppose that the “fountain of youth” for lack of a better name, is actually related to Smokie. Perhaps it serves as his source of power or as a kind of Achilles heel (i.e heal?) It may explain why Smokie protects the temple. In sending the Others to the temple was Ben being manipulated by Smokie? Are the Others really thinking thay’re listening to Jacob when they’re actually being used by MIB or is Dogan really a MIB follower? If so it would set up a nice little battle between Jacob’s followers (IIlana’s group) and Dogan’s Others. If this is the case I’m not sure where Richard fits in but I really like the way MIB is leading Jacob’s team and Jacob is inside MIB’s compound with access to his team.
Let’s run with this idea for a minute. Suppose that Jacob is the one who found a loophole and allows himself to be killed by Ben so that he can “infect” Sayid once Hurley brings him into the temple. With the exception of Miles & Sayid, the only survivors in the temple are those who were “marked” or touched by Jacob off of the island. Maybe his touch is how he can “claim” them or identify them once he leaves his physical being. We haven’t seen a lot of the back story for Miles yet but he already has a “super power” so he may be the exception when it comes to Jacob’s touch although I’ll go on record and say that he was touched by Jacob as well and that’s the source of his ability to speak to the dead. (Pure speculation on my part, but I strongly suspect we’ll find it to be true.) Sayid wasn’t touched and he’s also was the only person who was forced to return to the island – everyone else returned voluntarily. There may be something more to this particularly since it was Ben who was directly responsible for Sayid being forced to return to a place that would cause his death but more importantly I believe that without being touched it allows Jacob to “hide” in Sayid in a way that prevents MIB from realizing he’s there.

Sorry for all the typos. The snow storms have been hell on the electricity so I posted this before I lost it. I thought I could edit the theory once it was posted but there’s no edit option. Sorry!
pretty good theory. I personally think that the conversation between fake Locke and Ben strongly implied that wherever fake Locke wanted to return to was off the island, but you definitely could be right
the one problem that keeps coming back with the Dogen following MIB theory is that they spread ash around for protection and spray ash on sayid…
I like the idea of the Temple being Smokie/Flocke’s home. I think it is much more likely tho that exactly for that reason they try to keep Smokie out.
What better way is there to keep him out, by inhabiting it yourself?
I do not believe that the Others are on MIB’s side, but like I said, it could be likely that the temple is Smokie’s “home”.
I thought Sayid WAS touched by Jacob. When Nadia was hit by the car, Jacob stopped Sayid from walking in the road to ask him for directions and placed his hand on his shoulder.
tpo, you’re right! I forgot about him touching him.
SO THAT BASICALLY CHOPS YOUR WHOLE THEORY UP….BUT I LIKE THAT U THINK THEY ARE LEADING EACH OTHERS TEAM…NICE THOUGHT…BUT SAYID WAS TOUCHED…NEARLY GRABBED
It doesn’t dismiss the entire theory at all, just the idea that Jacob would be masked by not having touched Sayid. Touching them could still be how Jacob “claims” them.
Hi Jukin, I agree that this does not negate your entire theory.
I feel that you have made some very good observations and connections.
What I have appreciated with recent theories is, since the episode aired that we are being presented with a variety of possibilities, and very good ones at that.
All of them have got me thinking.
I don’t think Sayid is Jacob. Also, I don’t think MIB’s home is the temple. Because he was able to go in the temple when he brought Ben there to be judged. Also, why would everyone say that the temple is a “save” place if it was MIB’s home. I think it’s Jacobs “home”.
It would make little sense calling it a Safe Place if it was in fact Nemesis’ – and or – Cerberus home. However, as pointed out by Flocke himself, they went under the temple, not into the temple itself
