Widmore and Dharma

Widmore must still be connected to what is left of the Dharma Initiative. Dharma went to and from the Island in the submarine…and Ben was pretty sure he couldn’t find the island. So perhaps he met up with the Degroots and they helped him get to the island the old-fashioned, non-plane crash way.

Question is…what took him so long? He seemed to be connected to dharma for a while now (his companies pregnancy test on the food drops, if i remember correctly, as well as being connected to Paik, etc.) Maybe, like ben, he couldn’t find the island alone, and needed a bunch of special people to come with him…(Desmond, WALT, kids?)

  1. It’s also possible that one can find the island easier now that Jacob is dead. Perhaps he helped to keep the island hidden.

It’s also possible that he convinced Eloise to help him. Remember they were lovers when they were on the island when they were younger.

  2. Jacob told Hurley that someone was coming to the island and we know that Jacob has a habit of bringing people to the island. He was able to find the island because Jacob brought him to it. He must have some purpose there.

I thought the pregnancy tests were from the plane wreckage… I seem to remember someone mentioning that it was weird that they were in there…

I was trying to think of a reason for the kids to be on the island and I couldn’t think of one besides kidnapping but you know… Widmore has ties to Paik so maybe Paik is there with Ji Yeon. Claire is on the island so maybe Widmore went to see Carole and convinced her to come to the island with Aaron to find Claire… and with Widmore there I think it’s very possible that Desmond and Penny are there too, so maybe little Charlie is with them… Who knows. It looked like a small sub but anything is possible…

  3. damnit i want walt to come. like he snuck on board or something. i need me some walt, ain’t no brothas left on the island. even the black other was killed by claire. c’mon now lost.

  4. It is my understanding that Widmore could not return to the island while Jacob was alive. I guess that was part of the “RULES”. As we all know, Ben had Widmore exiled from the Island and took over as leader of the Others saying that it was Jacob’s orders, but we do not know if Ben was lying about Jacob so he could take over.

I love all thess ideas about who may be on board with Widmore…very exciting.

  5. My thoughts are that, somehow, Flocke knows about the submarine coming to the island – I’m betting that this is the way he is planning to leave the island.

  6. ankh, youve lead me to a thought i really like. if that is true, then perhaps jack will have to blow up the sub to prevent flocke from leaving the island! that would be sweet. They did just show the dynamite in the black rock again…seems like richard could have asked jack to just shoot him. So they were showing the dynamite for a reason.

  7. I’m not sure if blowing up the sub will be Jack’s mission – how would they know to bring dynamite with them? Maybe Jacob will tell Hurley to bring dynamite along.
I like the idea though… and I’ll tell you why. Because long ago, Jack was promised by Ben that he could leave the Island on the sub – the only reason he couldn’t was because Locke blew it up! Wouldn’t this just be hell of an ironic way to defeat Flocke?

  8. eko,

Maybe Walt is working undercover on the sub as a cleaner! Hope he doesn’t get blown to smithereens too.

That was a cool episode. I was thinking through the episode ‘oh this whole Ben overthrowing the headmaster in the alt might be sorta mirroring what happened between him and Widmore’ then Widmore turns up!

I think with Widmores involvement off island with getting the oceanic 6 back etc, he knows more about ‘the plan’ (Jacobs? Dharmas?) than we know, maybe he knew that this is now the right time to come back to the island.
Maybe Jacob visited him before he died.
Talking of the touch of Jacob, i always wondered how they would explain how Micheal was unable to kill himself off island, after last nights ep, does that mean Jacob touched Micheal at some point?

  9. @ shephards_flocke, it seems Jacob touched Micheal cuz he tryed killing himself a couple times and the others did visit him off the island. But right before he died Christian visited him and told him hes done, and im pretty sure Christian isnt on Jacobs side.

sorry to go off subject, the thought of micheal and walt just sparked something in my “Lost” head

  10. sheally23 – i really like that idea. i’m pretty sure the whole shepard family has a special part in the show. so aaron is probably on there

desmond is for sure going to be on the sub

i also agree that maybe widmore found the island because jacob is dead, so that would make him on mib’s site?

  11. Someone is definitely on the boat with Widmore.
Aaron- would be great to introduce that element of shock when Kate and Claire realize that he is on the island.

Desmond- The island isn’t done with him yet

Penny- Would Widmore really put his daughter on the island to get in harms way? Although, Ben did say he would kill Widmores daughter. The struggle ben would go through now, with actually killing penny would be great after what we saw last episode. Is Ben a changed man? did he redeem himself? Is he truly sorry? Or is he still the same lying, manipulative, bastard he always was?

Charlie and Ji Yeon- Not a bad idea that Widmore has to bring children with him to the island. but why?

Piak- not sure why unless he is bringing Ji Yeon.

Eloise- With her connection to both the Lamp post station off island and Widmore, I would think she had something to do with him finding the island again. She may be on the sub also.
Walt- “Maybe Walt is working undercover on the sub as a cleaner! ” That would be awesome. I actually think you might be right on the money with this one.

Most of these people have to come back to the island. The island isnt done with them. It’s just very logical with Widmores connection with these people above that some of them will be on the sub.

Now onto Bens flash sideways. He seems to be a pretty decent and caring guy. But why? Well, because of our Losties trying to blow up the hatch in “the incident” the island ended up getting evacuated. Along with Ben and his father, Roger. It was pretty awesome when Roger asked Ben if he ever thought how their life would be different if they didn’t leave the island. This gives credibility to the thought that the timeline did split at the point of Juliets detonation of Jughead. It sent the Losties back to 2007 to finish their timeline but anotherone was created. But I am still sticking with my “Record Theory” for now.
The connection between Ben overthrowing the principal and overthrowing Widmore on the island is pretty cool. He still has some of that bastard in him. We are going to continue seeing these type of connections.

    ————————————————

The idea that Widmore could only return to the island post death is interesting. That is very plausible because Widmore was banished off the island. But who really banished him-Jacob, Ben, Richard, or the MIB posing as Jacob. And what side is Widmore really on? The judge is still out on that one.

I tend to think Widmore is on the side of Jacob and Llanna, Jack and crew. but who knows?

    ————————————————

“perhaps jack will have to blow up the sub to prevent flocke from leaving the island! “- brilliant!

    ———————————————–

If Jacob touches you, does that make you immortal? When are you allowed to die? I am a firm believer that Christian was the MIB the entire time. It was Christian that appeared to Michael right before he blew up. He said that he could “go now”. Why would MIB be the one that determined when Michael could stay or go if it was Jacob who gave him immortality? Was it really the MIB that gave Richard his Immortality. Richard says it wasn’t a gift, it was a curse. Thats typical of the Devil, to entice you with something you thing is gold but really turns out to be a pile of shit.

For some reason i still cant post on the theories board. I go up to the top, click write a theory. Then I write a theory and check the theories box down below. Then I hit submit, it says Post submitted. But then it never gets posted. Or when they have been posted, its like a week later and I already have new thoughts. Whats up with that? any help?

  12. Great thoughts eko…

I have felt Charles to be a part of the DI for a very long time.
If you go back to thoughts from last year, I have several theories up stating that I believe he jumped ship from the others long before he was banished.
I believe he has a hand in Amy and Ethan jumping TO the others as well.

  13. thats a lot of writing…if you are a new user, the admin has to approve of your first few theories before they automatically post. i don’t know the exact number, but after a few you should be good to go.

its interesting that you bring up christian on the freighter saying: you can go now…very similar to what MIB has been saying to the others and jake’s bodyguards.

however…he would have to be a vision, because if the MIB could inhabit christian on the freighter he would be off the island.

  14. aes- i totally agree with you about amy and ethan, but i somehow doubt how much of this they will actually reveal due to the time constraints. the only way they could cover everything would be to sit down and explain it straight through.

well see what gets answered by widmore (going by the current rate…nothing for a few episodes)

  15. The Incident would still have occured without the Losties. Ben would have left the island with his father then because he wouldn’t have been in the Temple recovering from being shot by Sayid.

  16. Mmm i dont really know what to say.. Maybe he found the lamp post station and knew where to go from there.. Or maybe like you said he needs kids and special people, and so hired that nurse (when desmond was shot) to steal charlie so he could get Des on board.. And i suppose to fit the special category we would really need Walt.. Yay Walts back!

  17. Maybe when Jack/Juliet set off Jughead, the flip through time showed up on Penny’s radar as a blip locating the island. Just a thought.

  18. Warf: Maybe you haven’t been ‘cleared’ by Admin to post. She monitors posts for awhile – and she’s in England where Lost isn’t shown and tries not to get spoiled by looking here – so Fri/Sat your theories may be up.

What self-control! Whew! I admire that girl! (And thank her for the site as well.)

  19. Widmore was banished so couldn’t come back. Like Napoleon.

He, and not Ben, is the power freak – and perhaps the one who may as well be dead in Ben’s Sidewaysville lecture. Napoleon was forced to abdicate before he was exiled. He became very powerful on Elba (though not rich) and watched by spies. He escaped Elba and returned to power … but was defeated at Waterloo. (He died of stomach cancer … or arsenic.)

I’m not sure how much Dharma contact really happened after the purge, let alone Widmore’s exile. You have the food drops, which could be pretend Dharma [ or a timeloop ; ) ] and, what, Radzinsky? The island may have been hidden until Charlie (of course this is 3 years later).

Widmore brings an interesting element, though. Probably good thing Ben’s still around.

  20. I dont think Jacob dying has allowed Widmore to come back, simply because of logistics (if they even matter). First, how does Widmore know that Jacob is dead and therefore decide to go in the sub and second how long has Jacob been dead? Has it even been a whole week? Is that enough time for Widmore to find out Jacob was dead, load up the team in the sub and head off to the island? assuming he now knows how to find it? Unless he was just in the area waiting for the news about Jacob??

Also, wharfrat77, Richard did say Jacob’s touch was a curse, but he was just having a crisis of faith and it took Jack to make him see otherwise and that Jacob is still an influence. I think we will see Richard get back on track and hopefully reveal some goodies, i think his focus episode is coming in the next couple.

  21. Was the freighter inside the electromagnetic bubble that surrounds the island? That could make it possible for MIB to get to the ship. Or maybe Christian is a separate entity but i really think they are working together.

Libby also appeared to michael on the freighter.

What ever way Sawyer goes on the island is the way he will go in the flash sideways. If he’s good on the island he will get the good relationship with his daughter which is what he really desires.

I’ll try to keep my posts shorter. If I could post in the theories section…….
