What/Who Are The Others?

Okay this is my theory. I think some of the other for whatever reason transcend death when arriving to the island as a corpse, such as Christian Shepard, John Locke, and possible Richard. After viewing all the time jumping after the wheel was turned, and finally set in place leaving our survivors and Juliet in 1977, I believe the others can be people trapped in the wrong time, or not in the time they were born.

I also believe the music is featured so much during the series to time stamp when stations were built or events were taking place. Obviously, the underwater station was constructed when Good Vibrations were popular.
