It seem the radiation alone will kill Jack and Sayid if they are wrong! How are a military grade communications expert and a spinal surgeon going to blow up a 33 year old decaying H Bomb?

Well I think it doesn’t take a nuclear scientist to detonate a nuclear bomb once built. Also a nuclear half-life is a lot longer than 33 years. I don’t think it will lose much of it’s kick. Si’eed (Sorry not sure how to spell his name) is somewhat technical though, i’m sure he can figure out how to pull a trigger on such a device. Though i know he couldn’t build one.
I’ve been wondering about this bomb since the “Jughead” episode. How will detonating an H-bomb solve anything?? Even a 1954-vintage bomb would have enough power to totally destroy the island–ever see those photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?? How could anyone think that this could help ANYTHING????
