You have to kill your father, John

So John realized who his real father is? Is it Jacob who he really have to kill and not Anthony Cooper?
Maybe Ben and Richard wanted to John keep thinking that Anthony was his real father. Maybe there is a prophecy in wich John kills Jacob, and Ben and Richard where trying to prevent that prophecy.

  1. lichorosario, I am so pleased that you brought up Anthony Cooper!

I don’t feel we ever got the full meaning of Anthony Cooper’s purpose on ‘the island’. I always felt, that he played a larger part in the story, whether it was on a psychological level, or a ‘symbolic’ one.

I think that killing Jacob and killing Anthony Cooper are linked, somehow to John.

You are definitely on the right track!

    Great post!

  2. i never thought anthony cooper was his dad. ever. locke didnt even kill him and still became leader even thought richard forced the hand. i like the jacob theory

  3. Should be listed in theories. I like this one.

Anthony Cooper just found a donor match somehow and played John using the I’m your daddy con.

So, if John was born in 1956, he was conceived in Sept 1955.

  4. Yep, I think this is where we are headed. And I know that there are other people speculating the same thing, too… so good thoughts!

  5. And another thing: the person Kate was named after was called Kate Cooper Austin. Could this mean that John and Kate might be related somehow?

  6. They are related… that is why Boone appears to Locke in the sweat lodge in season 3 to tell him he needs to bring the family back together.

  7. I don’t think he is John’s dad… I think he is just a con artist and he looked in hospital records for someone without a father and the same blood type.

  8. Finally, agreement that Cooper wasn’t Locke’s real father!! I don’t think it was a DNA test on Locke/Cooper, it was just a test for compatibility for a kidney transplant–you don’t have to have a DNA match or else you could only receive one from a relative. Since there are people on waiting lists for kidneys from total strangers, this supports the theory that it was all rigged by Cooper and Locke’s mom. She went along for the $$ he gave her.
Locke’s always getting conned, but now he’s doing the con. There’s been speculation that Jacob doesn’t really exist, and John knows it. So he’s leading everyone to expose the fraud perpetrated by Ben and Richard.
