What year is it in present time Lost?
I have had this question since the producers have been showing us actions from 1977 and 30 years in the future of that. My question is very simple: what is the year in which Locke, Ben, Sun and Frank are? Some may think the answer is obvious (2007), but we know that they landed on present time, therefore, if they were in 2008, they landed on the island on the same year. And if everyone else recalls well, Season 4 ended with the O6 leaving the island around 108 days after september 22nd 2004, that would be around january 6th, 2005. Thus, as 3 years have pased since they left and came back, they should be on 2008, not 2007.
Any thoughts on why everybody seems to say they are in 2007? Or they traveled also back in time one year? I personally believe that they landed on the island in their present time, they continued to be on the plane, therfore they couldn’t have traveled to the past.

Good question….. I would assume it’s 2007, but your math adds up. I guess we should have a question sent to the writers about this for the next podcast. They love to answer questions that don’t reveal any secerets.
108 days. Interesting, because that is the official story fed to the media.
It is not clear (to me anyways) whether that number includes the time spent on Penny’s yacht (the Searcher) and planning their return to the real world when they wash up on an inhabited island in the pacific near the Sunda trench.
The last official date we are shown is in the episode “The Constant” in which Desmond sees a calendar in the communications room – that is Christmas Eve 2004. How many days between that and the actual crash of Lapidus’ helicopter? Then how long in the water before Penny picks them out? and then how long before she drops them into the water off the other island?
It is clearly stated that they are in 2007 when the Oceanic 6 board Ajira 316.
The inter titles that read “30 years later” should really be taken at face value, though, don’t you think?
In regards to 3 years…
I think it is meant to be a rounded up number. If they had to produce Inter Titles for this season’s episodes that read “Two years, six months and five days later” (or earlier, as the case may be) it would just be a drag (and more expensive).
