its kinda long but just read it its really good! please!
okay first i just want to say last nights episode had to be the best episode of this entire show. weve finally met Jacob and he seems like the good guy. ecspecially when he brought John Locke back to life when he fell out the window, he’s like Jesus! he came to most of them in their past lives and he was always helping them or cheering them up. and he told sun and jin not to take their love for granted cause he knew theyd eventally be split up 🙁
now lets get to it. That guy in the beginning is like evil and i think HE IS THE SMOKE MONSTER. he i the evil essence on the island and Jacob is the good guy and all that. anyway that guy really wanted to kill Jacob for whatever reason, but he couldnt just stab him right then and there, or at all. i was wondering why he couldnt get someone else to kill him so thats why i think hes unkillable or something. but then in the end when the guys in the form of John Locke in the form of the smoke monster (confusing!), why can he kill him then? why can he only kill him as john locke or something. wait bens the one who killed him… ugh! im confusing myself. lets move on now
that statue: we’ve been guessing on this thing for so long! we got a better glimpse of it in the finale, but still not the face. it looked like an alligator had er something! it was holding that egyptian sign for eternal life… like the others! they have eternal life cause they dont age or die unless________ fill in he blank cause i still havent figured out the whole loop hole killing jacob thing…

i think the statue is just supposed to be anubis
The statue was of the Egyptian God called Sobek. Sobek was a fertility God and some sects even believed Sobek to be the creator of the world. The destruction of the statue on the island is likely linked to the incedent and cause of the fertility problems on the island.

The statue is that of a crocodile head, and believed to be Sobek and related to Ra. Check it out on Wikipedia!
I realize that some people are suggesting that Jacob’s nemesis is the smoke monster, but I disagree.
Fake Locke was surprised when Ben told him that the smoke monster said he had to do everything Locke told him to. Unless, this was a clever ruse, I believe it is not the smoke monster!
The smoke monster is not the man from the beach who is now possessing John Locke, yes, because he was surprised, agreed. But I believe Jacob is Anubis, and he judges others to determined if they were to go onto the Otherworld or to the Eater of the Souls” aka the smoke monster. (Notice how Jacob touches every Lostie?, as if to tag them to bring them to the island for judgement) The man on the beach is Anubis’ brother, the brother who has tried to kill him several time in Egyptian Myth, I think that is Osiris. In one instance he creates an ornate box and tricks Anubis to climb in it, sealing it. Isis (Anubis wife) and her sister set out to find the box, how odd that John’s body has returned in a coffin type box? Led by Ilana (sp?) Just my thoughts….
I agree that Jacob’s rival is the smoke monster. For some reason he is not able to kill Jacob directly but someone else could, Ben. The finale brought up a great deal about free will and I believe that the rival couldn’t force someone to kill Jacob, only suggest it. He tricked Ben into doing his dirty work
I don’t think Jacob’s ‘dead’. He faked out the body snatcher.
