Who told Richard?
When we see Locke with Richard and Ben waiting for Lostie Locke to appear after Ethan shot him it’s not actually Locke is it? It’s the imposter who’s telling Richard that he must fix and tell Locke (Lostie) he has to die in order for him to get back to the island.
If it isn’t a paradox, then it’s certainly a very important clue in putting together the pieces i think

I get what you’re saying, and I don’t really think there is a possibility of answering this at the moment. At its base it doesn’t’ make sense. Each action requires the other take place, so they must be in a time loop. Perhaps this is all an attempt to stop a time loop from happening for eternity.
