Why did only certain people skip through time?
Has anyone figured out why only certain people (Locke, Sawyer, et al.) were hopskotching through time and not everyone (i.e. the Others) on the Island? The only reasonable explaination I can think of is some form of initiation at the Temple that the Others go through. Any thoughts?
Yeah, we as an audience do not know that yet. Hopefully the writers explain this one. If they don’t, I guess you can just chalk it up to “what the island wanted”.
I think they all skipped through time and when the island stopped skipping the Others were brought back to the proper time frame since they were not the ones who messed with the donkey wheel. The writers just havent shown us when the Others skipped.
Perhaps the Others didn’t skip, but were where they were in that segment of their lives. The other Losties were skipping, as shown by Bernard & Rose … they’re probably just dead like Frogert. Lapedus and Ben weren’t O6ers, and as we know now Locke wasn’t Locke at all. The only one in question is Sun …. giving 2 reasonable explanations … 1) She’s is different from when she left (e.g. not pregnant nor with child she just abandoned somewhere) 2) Necessary for the finale – and for fun I’m goin’ with the Locke’s group are necessary for MIB (who want’s full reign of the Othes) and those who are past yet are coming are Jacob’s minions.
I think I have an Idea as to why, but some background checking might need to done.
Remember way back when they were flying to the freighter and Desmond freaked out and started skipping…

well, so who did not skip time, as far as i can remember, its, Sun, Ben, Lapidis, and then all the newcomers. And everyone else goes back in time.
Then look at who was in the Hatch which had a lot of electromagnetism… Not Sun, not Lapidis and not any of the newcomers, however, Jack, Kate, Hurley, were there a lot.
The only problem I see with this theory is, Ben was held prisoner there so we know he was around electromagnetism. Besides, this only explains the 2nd plane crash and not why, Juliette, sawyer, miles, farady, and charlotte are time skipping.
Correct me if im wrong, dont they start time skipping when ben turns the wheel and the oceanic 6 are Off the Islans?
I really need to watch season 5 over again. Thought i might be onto something until I realized the ben thing.
I still think its probable electromagnetism exposure has something to do with it.
Or radiation, also i think we at least know they are time skipping because the wheel is off it’s axis. Christian mentions it when Locke finally goes down.
